Ugh, you have no idea how fed up I am with periods.. I get depressed because I get them. I just want to die.. grr
jean_nicole answered Thursday October 20 2005, 10:12 pm: Yeah you can have a hysterectomy. You need to take in consideration if you want kids or not in the future. If you do you might just want to get on a birth control (sorry don't remember the name) which only has it were you have four periods a year. You're only thirteen years old, you couldn't get a surgery even if you wanted to and had the money. Just tough it up. [ sillyrob's advice column | Ask sillyrob A Question ]
FunnyCide answered Thursday October 20 2005, 12:15 pm: There is a surgery that completely removes your overies, and stops the periods. However, this surgery leaves you infertile - you couldn't ever have babies. I'm assuming you're still in your teens, in which case you probably don't have children. I know periods suck - big time - but I want to have children when I'm older.
You can be put on birth control; that regulates your periods and makes them lighter. For most girls, they only get their period every three months and it lasts only about 5 light days. However, this dosage of birth control isn't enough to protect you sexually; if you are considering becoming sexually active, you'll need a higher dosage than what the doc will give you for regulating your periods.

craazylau answered Thursday October 20 2005, 10:32 am: Surgery isn't really an option because if you remove your eggs you will never be able to have children! (and i'm assuming you're quite young!) You should go and see your doctor if you really are having problems because they may put you on the contraceptive pill as this often makes the flow lighter. However, it all does depend on how old you are and how long you have had your periods. If it's only a short time then this phase could pass. However if you started your periods two or three years ago a trip to the doctor sounds like it could do the trick! Good luck [ craazylau's advice column | Ask craazylau A Question ]
Eva answered Thursday October 20 2005, 10:01 am: I dont think that you should get rid of the periods completely but I think that there are some pills, or a shot that can do that. You might want to ask your doctor about it. They will advise you on what is best for your age. I do know that taking the pill should help with both the flow or your period and the PMS that comes with it. It sure worked for me... and the added benefit is that your complexion will be great.
NinaB answered Thursday October 20 2005, 7:30 am: My periods use to be extremely painful also. I eventually asked my mom to go to the doctor because I would be close to tears from the pain. The doctor put me on birth control which limits your periods and makes them much less painful.
Good luck.

tasuki answered Thursday October 20 2005, 6:41 am: Birth control pills will do it, but they also increase risk of heart attack. Try taking ibuprofen when you're on your period. Hot tea is also nice. Once I had it really bad and wet a cloth with hot water, then put that on my belly. It made me feel better. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
