Question Posted Wednesday October 19 2005, 8:26 pm
I was shaving this morning and used a new razor. I didn't pay attention to it but the blades were chipped. So, it cut me while I was shaving and it was pretty bad. Not too deep but not your normal shaving cut. I cleaned it up and wrapped the cuts and everything and at school it felt fine. Now, my leg is hot and red and the cuts kind of burn. I don't think that that shoudl be happening. My mom said it isn't anything to go to the doctors for but she'd take me if I really needed to. Should I go or do you think it will go away on it's own?
Additional info, added Wednesday October 19 2005, 8:54 pm: I don't have razor burn, just 3 big deep ones and a bunch of other scrapes and stuff. The 3 cuts themselves are what burn. UWishUHadMyHemi answered Saturday October 22 2005, 2:41 pm: i dont think this is anything to be too concerned about at the moment, but you should definately make sure you keep them clean. use peroxide to kill bacteria and cover your cuts completely with bandaids. if your cuts are still buurning after a few days of cleaning, then you should reconsider the doctor.. also if they keep opening and bleeding or start to have puss (ew), you should talk to your mom about getting some kind of ointment or something.

RockStoleMySoul answered Wednesday October 19 2005, 9:19 pm: Well sweetie. I hate to tell you, but you probably got shaving cream in the wounds. I've had it happen to me before. The burning sensation will go away, pour peroxide on the wounds. [ RockStoleMySoul's advice column | Ask RockStoleMySoul A Question ]
tasuki answered Wednesday October 19 2005, 9:18 pm: YES, go to the doctor!! Infections can be very serious. But until you get an appointment, there is this stuff called Bag Balm that you should use it works for everything that needs healing. Except, of course, a broken heart but then again I haven't tried that. Hope you're okay!! -tasuki [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]

I had a friend pull the razor up her leg sideways in the shower once...OUCH!
It should be okay. Use some triple antibiotic cram on it if you have some. It will have a burning pain to it for a couple of days.
If it starts looking as if it is getting infected, then you need to go to a doctor. It shouldn't come to that though.
x0blu3eyedbeautyx0 answered Wednesday October 19 2005, 8:51 pm: I thimk it's nothing to worry about...if you cut yourself bad enough the pain will stay for a couple days. I wouldn't go to the doctor unless the blade was rusty..but it was new so..don't worry. Hope it heals up quick! ♥ caitie [ x0blu3eyedbeautyx0's advice column | Ask x0blu3eyedbeautyx0 A Question ]

SweetxxIntoxication answered Wednesday October 19 2005, 8:44 pm: put some ointment (sp?) on the cuts, and keep bandaids on them and put some soothing lotion (ask your mom what kind would be good for razor burn) on your legs.
i know you say you don't have razor burn, but that is what it sounds like. [ SweetxxIntoxication's advice column | Ask SweetxxIntoxication A Question ]
