Everyone's asking questions about cutting. Do they mean that they're literally taking knives and cutting their flesh? If not, what do they mean then? If so, why the hell would they do that? It makes no sense.
fabulous11 answered Monday October 17 2005, 9:55 pm: Yeah it is when people literally take anything, a knife, razor, scissors and cut there skin. It might not make sence to you but it does to the person that is doing it. People think that by inflicting pain on themslef will get out there anger and all the tough things they are goin through. If you kno someone who is cutting themslef you should definatly talk to them because its not good...

xXxpinky615xXx answered Monday October 17 2005, 9:28 pm: Cutting is taking knives, scissors, razors or any other sharp object to their wrists and cutting their flesh. And yes of course it makes no sense to you. That's because you aren't depressed. Alof of teens that have depression take out their emotional pain, through phsycal pain. Just saying it to someone who isn't a cutter or who was never a cutter would seem crazy. But I used to be a cutter, when you have so much pain bottled up inside of you, you feel numb. And you're so tired of feeling numb and in order to feel again you cut just to know you're alive basically. When you're knee deep in depression, you tend to just... shut down I guess. You feel nothing, every thing that should hurt doesn't. Pain doesn't hurt when it's all you've ever felt. So, to feel, you cut. When you cut you feel. And, the being able to feel again is like a high for them, that they keep doing it day after day after day because they like being able to feel. They like being able to feel pain. It sounds retarded to you, but it's not. It's a serious problem. They need help. [ xXxpinky615xXx's advice column | Ask xXxpinky615xXx A Question ]
Jarhead11789 answered Monday October 17 2005, 9:14 pm: *If I offend anybody with this advice, then I'm sorry. If you're offended because you're Goth or you cut yourself, then shut up and get help.
Cutting is something that Goth kids like to do so that they can compare scars and talk about how the scars on their flesh are nothing compared to the 'scars on their souls.' It's a pathetic cry for attention from people who like to whine about how much life sucks but lack the testicular fortitude to maybe try to improve their life or just kill themself like they always talk about doing.
It's pointless and anybody who would do that either doesn't think or has a learning disability.

Chicken_flavored_eggs answered Monday October 17 2005, 8:55 pm: People cut as a coping mechanism. If they are depressed or feel they have no control in their life they can start to cut themselves as a release and as something they can control. It is a mental issue and is quite serious. Instead of feeling emotional pain, they decide to feel physical pain. This is a release because this sort of pain represents the mental issues they are having. One difference, this kind of pain is a pain that they inflict and they can decide when they feel that pain (control...again)It actually releases them from whatever they are feeling temporarily. Hence the need to keep cutting. [ Chicken_flavored_eggs's advice column | Ask Chicken_flavored_eggs A Question ]
if_0nlii answered Monday October 17 2005, 8:50 pm: Cutting is taking a sharp object and running it into your flesh, yes. If you have a depressing life it causes you to cut yourself. It makes you focus on that pain and not any other pain that is around you. If you are planning on cutting please reconsider for you will scar yourself for the rest of your life but I don't think you will do that because you sound smart enough not to.
yourperfectdisaster answered Monday October 17 2005, 8:50 pm: YES I totally agree. IT MAKES NO SENSE. When people talk about "cutting", yes, sadly, they are talking about cutting themselves. Sometimes they do it because they are having problems or are depressed. They get so into it, that they begin to not feel the pain anymore, and they will get addicted to it. Yeah, and they will use ANYTHING they can find:: knives, razors..even screws! =/ And sometimes people cut themselves JUST TO GET ATTENTION. That's what bugs me the most. They think that they'll get people to feel bad for them, but in the end, they're just hurting themselves, and basically people think they're stupid for hurting themselves. Yeah well, I think I've given enough of my opinion =) Hope you got what you needed. [ yourperfectdisaster's advice column | Ask yourperfectdisaster A Question ]
