What is the difference between being Atheist and Agnostic?

Atheist: one who believes that there is no deity
Agnostic: : a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and prob. unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god
Basically, Atheists believe that there is no higher power, and agnostics are undecided. Agnostic is often used to refer to people who believe in god(s) but have no organized religion.

Atheists, by most peoples' definitions, do not believe in God. This is not really the case with all people who identify themselves as Atheists. They might believe in God but not believe in organized religion. Yeah, baby.
Agnostics, as I understand it, simply don't know whether or not God exists and don't really care. They are content to just...float by...like giant bubbles...*dreamy, far-off sigh*
So yeah. That's the difference.

Atheist means that you do not whatsoever believe in God and or an afterlife. Agnostic really means that you are on the fence with the issue. You believe as an agnostic that you are here for some reason but are not taking a stance on whether there is a God, higher power etc or not.

Atheists believe in nothing. They do not believe in God, nor any form of religion. Agnosics are not so sure that they believe. They are still confused, in a way that there is a God, or that there is religion.
