really well thats not to complicated just pass him a note since your too shy or ask a friend to tell him what your thinking and ask him if he wants to just hang out after school but dont make it desperate, before you tell him you like him hang out with him more and then get to know him better you know what i mean?! Don't be scared! If you really like him, then there is nothing for you to be scared about. Take a risk! Everyone has to look stupid at some point or another, although I doubt you will! Unless you are totally unprepared and have no idea what to say! Just listen to him when he talks to other people, and maybe you could get an idea of what he likes to talk about. But I think you should already have somewhat of an idea if you like him! If you are absolutely too shy to tell him on your own, you could always ask a friend to do it for you. Or tell one of his friends! But do you really want to tell him rite now? I mean think about it..if you don't know how to tell him you like him, and you don't have anything to talk about..what will you say to him when you two talk? You have to think of this stuff ahead of time, otherwise there is going to be a lot of awkward silence between the two of you! What does he like to do? What do you like to do? What do you two have in common, and what would he like to talk about? Think about it, and then tell him.

This is what you should do. I had the same problem with this boy named Reggie(my now boyfriend o yeah buddy lol). 1st when you see him in class like since you're so shy drop your pencil on purpose and say "Can you please pick my pencil up for me?" And then from there, start talking to him more each day. Then eventually, ask him for his # or give him your #. Then either you call him or he calls you, then ask him out over the phone or you could tell him how you feel about him 1st then you could ask him out. If he turns you down, just ask if y'all could be friends then maybe once y'all have known each other for a while then maybe your friendship could turn into something more.

slip him a note or ask a friend to tell him for you. tell her to act like she wasnt supposed to tell him. heres an example convversation.
friend: hey jon
jon: hey whats up?
friend: nothing really. oh my gosh you know what i just heard?
jon: what?
friend: [insert your name here] likes you!!
jon: really?
friend: oops!! i wasnt supposed to tell you that....[giggle]

Anyways, I know how it feels for there not to be anything to talk about. I usually never know what to say to my crushes, either...
I know its hard, but make an effort to start saying Hi to him and stuff when you see him. Maybe he'll get the clue you like him and he'll like you back. Get your friends to talk around him and pretend to flirt and stuff, I'm pretty sure guys like being flirted with, even if they don't like you back. It makes them feel special.
And also, try finding out his s/n or something, it's always easier to talk online than infront of other people/his friends. Get to know him and what he likes, see if you guys have a lot in common, and then ask him to go out if you think you still like him. ^_^

Just act cool and say hi to him if you see him or something. Sometimes if you don't get something ask him(homework,classwork,ect.) after a while and you begin to know eachother you might be able to tell him. Hope I helped! LUV YA!
