well im a fresman in high school and i still haven't gotten mi period! ( i no pretty sad huh?) well anyways im afraid ill get it in school and ill be wearing white pants... what can i do? i don't want any surprsies
Mackenzie answered Wednesday September 28 2005, 6:49 am: You just need to be prepared. A freshman in high school places you at 14-15, which is prime age for these new developments. If you fear you'll be starting soon, always carry tampons/pads in secretive place in your purse or backpack.
Some tips to prevent leaking: wearing a (thick) long pad WITH wings would be a great idea. Also, make sure to change these items as often as needed; and you'll just get know how often that is. I'd guess every three or four hours, thereabouts, at least. Also, wear dark clothes if possible, and try to keep them somewhat baggy so nothing is seen bulging through, get it? A second pair of shorts tucked away in your backpack would be a good option, just in case..
Honestly, there's not a whole lot more you can do other than that. Just be prepared, and although it's easier said than done.. try not to stress over it. :D [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
rosebud_01 answered Thursday September 22 2005, 5:21 pm: Don't worry a few days before you will get your period you will get some cramps and when that happens then you worry about carrying around tampons or pads. If you can't afford those things just carry enough money for one of those machines in the restroom some schools have those if not you can always ask one of your friends for a tampon or pad and they will help you. Hope that I helped you but if not please visit me at my column. [ rosebud_01's advice column | Ask rosebud_01 A Question ]
GDROB answered Wednesday September 21 2005, 11:44 pm: Carry tampons and or pads with you at all times and you will be okay. The white pants thing is sort of a myth everyone plays on as females. It usually does not happen but can. The reason they tell the story is simple to make girls aware of using menstrual products carefully and how to recognize the onset of a period because leaks happen and can wreck clothes. Embarassment and all that are other reasons. Just don't get caught wearing light pants or anything that shows leakage. Good tip when you think about it. I would not be so concerned worrying about it.
Also, you not having a period yet does not mean anything if genetics determine women in your family get it late and blossom late. If very concerned tell your doctor and see if everything is alright. [ GDROB's advice column | Ask GDROB A Question ]

0xjennaxheartx0 answered Monday September 19 2005, 10:06 pm: No, thats not pretty sad. Us girls get it at different times. I know someone who got it at age 8, and someone who got it around age 16. If you are that worried that you will get it in school, always put a pad in your underwear. Any type of pad, light or heavy.
S_C answered Monday September 19 2005, 9:28 pm: Okay well not having your period and being a freshman isn't bad. I didn't get mine until spring break '05, I'm a sophmore, though it happened when I was a freshy.
Anyway, when you wear white pants, keep a pad/tampon, or 2 or 3, with you at school. Maybe if there's room bring an extra pair of pants, and always have something you can tie around your waist.
Any other day wear a pantyliner. I had a pantyline on when I first got my period, luckily it was light and didn't leak through, but ya never know.
From now on, keep at least one pad/tampon in your bookbag, and if you ever have a problem then use what you brought, and go to the nurse. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
orphans answered Monday September 19 2005, 9:22 pm: well what i do if i have stomach camps in the morning, (wich it wasnt my period but i thought it would be) i started wearing pads.
you will have some cramps and stuff befor it comes.
if you feel something leaking out, it can be your period.
tell your teacher and if they say no say you have a girl problem and they should let you go.
anyways- if you wear white pants, wear a pad with it just incase you know!
bunsal0t answered Monday September 19 2005, 9:08 pm: You can always feel when it's coming, so you don't have to worry. Just make sure you always have a sweater you can tie around you wait and be prepared or whatever. [ bunsal0t's advice column | Ask bunsal0t A Question ]
FireFairy141 answered Monday September 19 2005, 9:02 pm: Before your period starts, you should start seeing this weirdo white stuff in your underware. When you start to see that, you'll know that your period is coming. So, when you see it, just start wearing a pad, and you should be okay!
3HOLLYWOODxGLAM3 answered Monday September 19 2005, 8:43 pm: well you'll start to notice it if your wearing white pants if it starts leaking.. so it probablly wont get to the point where everyone can see it. and dont think like that. the odds that you get your first period in school..while your wearing white pants is VERY small. just always bring pads and an extra pair of pants and underwear. dont worry about it. its not a big deal at all trust me. tasuki answered Monday September 19 2005, 8:42 pm: First of all, that's no big deal. Everybody develops at different rates.
Secondly...don't wear white pants!! I was fortunate enough to be wearing black on the day that I got my period. So wear black or red pants and always carry tampons and/or pads with you! Problem solved!! Yay! [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
