Okay, I'm 13 and i'm 5'0 (yeah im small!) and i weigh about, lets see 60-70 pounds. And I'm very concerned about it. Do you think I'm TERRIBALLY under-weight, or just little low?
And also, I HATE milk, so I dont drink that.
I eat alot of meat.. probally 3 times a week.
I eat ALOT of junk foods... i'd suspect to be fat by now.
I drink alot of soda, if that helps. And water also.
Last time I had a check-up, I was 12, and I weighed about 58 pounds.
And everyone is jellous for some reason that I'm that weight.
So, can I have your advice on how to gain about 10 pounds? I'm really into your advice, I'll read it thougly, completly untill im 100% okay with it and rate it what it deserves!

There is nothing to worry about. I am the EXACT same size as you and I am 13 years old as well. I was a little concerned too. I asked my mom about it and she said that it's all genetics. It's inherited by someone in your family, most of the time. So, is anyone in your family short too? If so, that's probably who you inherited it from, even if it's not the person who gave birth to you. Sometimes, you may look JUST LIKE a cousin. I look EXACTLY like my cousin, Malissa. She's 19 and I'm 13 but if you put her childhood pictures by mine, you couldn't tell them apart. She's my cousin and I inherit HER size and her facial features. There is nothing to be ashamed of. It's good that we are short. I'm proud and you should be too. I'm also 5'0 and 13, like I said, and I don't care. All my boyfriends are taller than, which is good because tall girls always go out with REALLY short guys and they look like giant freaks. Just think: We'll look so good next to taller guys. It's better to look UP at someone rather than looking DOWN. Right?
Don't worry about it! I'm going through the same thing.
P.S. If no one in your family is short, that means you're going to [soon[ have a growth spirt and grow a few inches in a month. That way, you'll be a little taller! :-)

x_mystery answered Wednesday August 31 2005, 10:33 pm: I'm so glad that people are finally beginning to realize that there is such a thing as TOO skinny. I calculated your BMI (Body Mass Index) and heres what I found:
60 pounds: 11.7
65 pounds: 12.7
70 pounds: 13.7
Anything below 18.5 is underweight. I suggest that you go to your doctor and he can give you a specific eating plan or send you to a dietician. While you may think that eating junk food will help you gain weight, you're really not doing your body a whole lot of good. It is still empty calories and can still harm your body in other ways, and it seems that your metabolism is so fast that eating the junk food isn't going to help you gain weight. Go see your doctor, because you are very underweight, and he can put you on a plan that can help you. [ x_mystery's advice column | Ask x_mystery A Question ]
xOcourTneyOx answered Wednesday August 31 2005, 9:44 pm: *eat 3 meals a day, eat until you are full, drink lots of water, eat healthy, and have snacks if you get hungary in between meals! ik it sounds like a diet but just trust me!
*work out by lifting and running wich will help you gain muscle! muscle weighs more than fat! by eat healthy and working out you will gain healthy muscle weight instead of unhealthy fat weight! gaining muscle means gaining weight and it will thicken you up a little bit!!
*to keep it up just keep working out and exercising!
Razhie answered Wednesday August 31 2005, 9:44 pm: You are on the tiny side but you donâ??t sound dangerously underweight, just petite. At this point I would seek out a nutritionistâ??s opinion on how you could gain some weight.
In the mean time, you could increase your meal portions and try to get a lot of additional calories with complex carbohydrates (e.g., pasta, bread, rice, potatoes and the like). I also hate plain milk, but always made sure to drink one glass of chocolate milk a day, or have it on my cereal. It really is great for your body and will certainly help you gain weight. Increase the healthy snacks too, fruits and veggies and the like, because you donâ??t want to feel heavy or lethargic with all the heavy foods alone.
If you don't seem to gain weight after bumping up your food intake and eating higher calorie foods, you may want to see a doctor again and have a full workup to strike out any other underlying medical problems [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]
rockstarxlove answered Wednesday August 31 2005, 9:41 pm: Your pretty underweight, but if you do gain a about 10 more pounds, you will be better off. What i think you should do is excersize more, because muscle weighs more than fat. Also, you probably just have a fast matabolism.
Gaining weight and keeping it on can be as tricky as losing it and keeping it off. Rather than having the occasional extra snack, you need to regularly take in more calories than you burn. Combining this with toning exercises helps too.
Set yourself realistic target weights and aim to gain gradually - say, around 1kg (2.2lb) a month. To do that you'll need to add an extra 300 to 350 calories or so to your daily intake. It's best to do this in a healthy way as part of a balanced diet, rather than simply eating more fried foods or chocolate!
DancingKiwi123 answered Wednesday August 31 2005, 9:38 pm: you might be that weight because you probably have a fast metabolism so you shouldn't be worried unless the doctor tells you to worry. if you really want to gain weight though, gain it from healthier foods. eat foods like cheese and other food that has more fat in it. hope i helped a little. ~Kerri~ [ DancingKiwi123's advice column | Ask DancingKiwi123 A Question ]
xOtWiXi answered Tuesday August 30 2005, 11:44 pm: Hey! I think you're somewhat in the middle of being terribly underweight, but you are also just extremely petite. I have a best friend who is 5'1 and she weighs about 85 lbs. I'm 5'1 myself, and I HATE milk. There's loads of alternatives to getting the calcium you need, like cheese, ice cream, and maybe if your doctor okays it, they have those calcium chews in chocolate. With the meat, eating meat is good because it will nourish your body very well. As for the junk food - it sounds like you just have an excellent metabolism. Drinking soda is okay, but drinking water is even better - it keeps your system healthy. Everyone is jealous because - let's face it, most teenage girls are very unhappy with their bodies. There WAS an article in Seventeen or Cosmogirl a few months ago on how to gain weight healthy [from what I remember its basically good portions, and adding lots of foods that 'bulk' the weight on quickly and healthly]. You can try searching the archives on the magazine websites. If you can't find it - let me know, I will look for you =] Hope I`ve Helped ♥
HEYY I`m glad I helped =] I will look for it up for you asap, i'm actually going to eat my lunch now and answer some more questions, as soon as i find more info, i will post it on here for you =] [ xOtWiXi's advice column | Ask xOtWiXi A Question ]
