No sleeping with a gay person does not make you gay. Homosexuality is not contagious or a disease.

GAYS ARE BORN GAY. I personally did not wake up one morning and say "Hey I think I will like girls, make my parents and family cry or be discriminated against." Homosexuality is not that glamorous! Besides if it's a choice when do straight men and women decide to be straight?

I sleep on the same bed as my sister when we stay at my Grandparents house, that doesn't make me an incestial lesbian. Just because you sleep on the same bed it doesn't make you homosexual, even if the other person is. It's like if you had a friend who told you they were homosexual, would you then assume that they fancied all their female friends? Even if you did something physical with this woman, that wouldn't necessarily make you a lesbian. I have friends who have kissed members of the same sex, some have gone even further than that and they're completely straight. When you're a teenager, you go through loads of hormone changes which cause you to explore your sexuality. It doesn't mean you have to label yourself with gay, straight or bi.

So, in short, no sleeping in the same bed as a gay person wont make you gay.

As to your other question, the answer is complex. A baby can't really be born gay, maybe there's a hormone in them when they're born that causes them to be gay in later life. But you can't tell what sexuality a baby is going to be. Some people know that they're gay from a young age but it really depends on the person. Some people only develop it when they get older, that could mean that they were born like that, they just didn't develop it until they grew up. I'm bisexual but I haven't always been. I only started having feelings for the same sex as I got older, but there are people who were aware of their feelings for other girls or other boys from the ages of 5 and 6.

No that does not mean you're gay unless you too do something like makeout or have intimacy but you didn't do anything with her.You are not born gay sice that is what you're asking it just something that could happen when you're at a small age or as you grow older and makes you feel different from others becuase other people like their same type of sex so some get treated badly because of that and most are not accepted by those they care about like their parents.

ok homosexuality isnt a disease, u cant catch it just by sleeping in the same bed as someone who is gay... its a personal choice and you can't be born gay, cuz when you're young you have no attractions to the same or opposite sex alike... so you should be fine hahaha

MsAskMe answered Sunday August 28 2005, 6:37 pm:
Homosexualism is not a disease. It is not "rubbed off" onto another person.

I do not know if someone is born gay. There has been a theory around about parents wanting a particular sex of child, and having the opposite. Supposedly, this could cause the child to think and act as the sex of what the parent initially wanted. I do not know if there is any truth to this, or what kind of research has been done to test this theory.

Also, please consider this: Why a 40 year-old woman tell a 13 year-old she is gay, but not your mother who is her friend?

At your age, I do think you should be cautious though, even if it is your choice to sleep in the same bed as this woman. You are starting to mature, so more responsibility is needed of you on your decision making. If this person should make any sexual advantages towards you, inform your mother or another adult that you trust. Remember, sexual explotation of children and teens is a serious matter. You will be believed.

Sleeping in the same bed as a gay person does not make you gay. Neither does sharing a drink with a gay person, swimming in the same pool as a gay person, or having a gay person sneeze on you.

Sexual orientation is not a disease. You can't *catch* it just by being in contact with another person who calls themselves gay, any more then you can catch the colour of their skin or their taste in music.

No just because you slept with someone who is attracted to females does not make you automatically attracted to females. Sharing a bed with a homosexual doesnt change your sexuality.

**no1 exactly knows if people are born gay or not... but they do come out when their ready to.. **

MFS answered Sunday August 28 2005, 6:17 pm:
Sexuality is a complex topic. There is a social aspect to it as well as a biological aspect. Gender/sex is easy... sexuality is not. More and more evidence is pointing towards certian biological events that determine if someone is "gay" - which means that it could be possible to be "born gay", but again, that is still a vast oversimplification.

Sleeping in the same bed as a gay person does not make you gay. It makes you someone sleeping in a bed with another person. You having sexual relations with someone of the same gender is usually what defines someone as gay... not where they sleep. I mean, if I slept on the floor with a dog, would that make me a dog? If I sleep outside, and squirrels also sleep outside, does that make me a squirrel? No.
