Erinn_the_bamf answered Sunday August 21 2005, 10:30 am: Yes, you are partially right. However, it doesn't need to be exactly 50. From the ages of 45-60 you stop your period. You go through menapouse. It's when you cannot have kids anymore. You start getting your period irregular (even more irregular than when you start) and then you just kinda stop. I hope I helped! ♥ good luck [ Erinn_the_bamf's advice column | Ask Erinn_the_bamf A Question ]
thinkpink03 answered Sunday August 21 2005, 10:06 am: Yes its true. Its called Metapause and you stop having your period because you cannot produce any more eggs. It might not happen EXACTLY when your 50 thats just the average age. Some people get it in their late 40s and some the early and middle 50s it just depends on the person.
FunnyCide answered Sunday August 21 2005, 9:58 am: Not always at 50. Yes, your body DOES stop ovulating (producing eggs) and you become infertile. Around the ages of 50-60, you're really not looking to have a baby anyway, so it doesn't matter. Some women will stop having periods younger, some older. Some women have periods VERY rarely (like twice a year). It depends on each woman and her family background. Don't worry about it though, your time will come. There isn't a "right" time to stop or a "wrong" time to stop. Each woman's body is different. If you're really worried about it, try Googling it.

broadzilla answered Sunday August 21 2005, 5:21 am: Yes, it is true (even earlier, sometimes). I don't think it happens any earlier than 40, but menopause does seem to run "in the family." Some women still get their periods into 70. There's no set age, just that sort of range. If your period's stopping before then, there's probably something else going on.
