i write lyrics to songs and i write poetry and stuff a lot but i don't know where i can show it off without it getting stolen from me. do any of you know where i can display my poems/songs to where people won't take them and say they are thiers?
MELiixMARiiE answered Tuesday August 16 2005, 1:57 am: This is easy: There is this site called www.poetry.com where you make a name and then whenever you sumbit your poem/song or whatever then it gets copyrighted so nobody can take it and then whenever you go to the site again, just type in your last name and first name and then there it'll be. I hope I helped!

You just sign up and you're able to post your quotes, poems and lyrics onto your page. Then other people can read them, leave comments and rate. It's really cool.

The only downside is that it costs I think $4.95 a month, but its a great site, you can post your poem and people will rate it and give you feedback on it, and you can do the same to other people's poems. HectorJr answered Sunday August 14 2005, 1:42 am: Well...a brilliant idea from my previous band director, just for that occasion. This is for the purpose of court matters. Incase you need actual proof that you wrote a song or lyrics or anything, as soon as you are done make a copy and seal it in an envelope alone with your name signing a paper proving that on that day, you mailed those lyrics and stuff. Mail it to your house. That way it's postmarked with an offical legal date and if somebody claims to have done some lyrics or song, you simply take out the letter [unopened of course] and hand it to the judge. If your looking for online ways, I'm not sure because it sounds too risky. Hope that helps. [ HectorJr's advice column | Ask HectorJr A Question ]

adviceguy answered Sunday August 14 2005, 12:28 am: You could give all your songs and lyrics to me and I promise I won't copy or steal them * wink wink - evil laugh*
MFS answered Saturday August 13 2005, 11:58 pm: If you're really worried about people stealing your lyrics, then don't post them anywhere. Yeah, you can claim copyright and do everything possible to protect your creation, but anyone can still steal them.
You have to decide - is it better to get your ideas out there, or is it better to protect what you've created at all costs? [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
