Calories?? Are kilocalories and calories the same thing?

First off, a Calorie is different than a calorie. Note the capitalization. A calorie is the amount of energy required to raise one gram of a substance by one degree celsius. One thousand of these make a kilocalorie, otherwise known as a Calorie, which is the common label on food products. Hope this answers your question.

Kilo means 1000, so I'm willing to bet that a kilocalorie is 1000 calories... just a completely out-of-the-blue wild guess... ]
no ]
yes!! calories is just an easier shorter way to say it! ;) ]
yes ]
yaa.. they mean the same thing, except that one kilocalorie is 1000 times as much as 1 calorie ]
Yes. A Calorie (with a capital C) is equivalent to one kilocalorie, or one thousand calories.
I can't remember if that's exactly right, but I do know that one Calorie is made up of one thousand smaller units called calories (or kalories?).
Make sure you check on WebMD or some other related site to see if that's right, as I'm not entirely sure.
