Well, at my school you're allowed to bring a regular backpack to school, but not to class. During the school day, you're either supposed to carry your stuff around in your arms, or use a 'stringy' or drawstring bag like this one:

Maybe that's how the rule is at your school?

Never in my life have I heard of having to buy a certain size backpack for school. And why in the world would you carry a back back around at home? All the crap you need is already at your house.

i carry my normal backpack around school. there are a lot of kids at my school who were even carrying like hiking backpacks.
my backpack is a fairly large jansport. you'll be fine with the same size backpack you had in middle school. just now your backpack goes EVERYWHERE with you.

ive never heard of having to get a small backpack for highschool... for my highschool i would prolly need a bigger one-- okay it depends on what kind of school you go to-- i know some schools where nobody carries backpacks, some where its kinda just some do some dont, and some (like mine) where the school is so spread out that you have to carry half your books everywhere cause you cant get to your locker and make it to class so everyone carries them-- just incase, on the first day take a backpack (whatever kind you have-- i have a jansport) and if nobody has backpacks just leave it in your locker but if everyone has one then at least you do too... but its just a backpack and it doesnt matter how big it is
hope i helped

At my high school, you don't need to carry a backpack around, unless you want to bring one to school and keep it in your locker. The things you hear aren't always true, unless you know for a fact. A normal sized backpack should be fine and you don't need to buy another one. At your orientation, you can always ask and you'll get your answer if you do infact need to carry a backpack around.

I'm pretty sure that's just people trying to freak you out. Unless there's some special rule at your school, they don't care what size of backpack you have. Just ask at orientation, or call the offices to ask.

Well, in my school you don't need to carry anything around with you. Unless you're a girl and feel like having your purse with you. Do you know if your school has lockers? Because normally you can just put all your stuff in your locker. But not to worry, you'll have freshman orientation. Which is something where all the freshman go to just so they can see the school and see how their schedule is going to be and whatnot. You can ask your questions there. All schools are different though.

adviceguy answered Friday August 5 2005, 9:39 pm:
You need to stop relying on what you "hear" and rely more on what you know. After your first week of school, you will get a deeper understanding of what you need and what you don't. You can then make a better judgement. Further more don't stress out. It’s just a backpack. High school is filled with many twists and turns, and once you begin to feel their effects, the size of a backpack will seem insignificant.

Good Luck,

Advice Guy

Your normal sized backpack should do just fine. No need to buy an extra one unless you want to switch back and forth between the two. :)
