ok so im going to be a freshman and i want to dress really good this yr but i dont want peole to think im al self absorbed bc im not! i just want to look nice but not snobby bc i want to meet some new people
thanks!
Lilly Pulitzer, Lacoste, Coach, Burberry, Abercrombie, Tiffany & Co., Ralph Lauren, Juicy Cotoure, Marc Jacobs, Gap, The North Face, Seven for all Mankind, Soffe shorts (they go with anything and are cheap... only like ten bucks a pair), and if you don't like my outragous preppiness and brand name obsession, there's always Old Navy, though I never go there. Old Navy gives cheap, trendy clothes, minus the quality, and the same goes for H & M. I know some people in my school shop at consignment stores, and though I don't, there is NOTHING wrong with them! Nobody has to know your clothes are used... I know someone who got $200 Prada shoes for like fifty bucks.
Loehmann's and Filene's Basement are great options, very designer, new clothing for ultra cheap.

LifesNoStoryBook answered Friday August 5 2005, 8:17 pm: You should dress how ever you want to dress and be yourself. You shouldn't care about what others think of you. Mix up your styles and if you have a good personality, they shouldn't care about how you dress.

Personally, i'm kind of an outsider. I dress radically and eccentricly, but more importantly, i dress however i damn well like to. But, being and outsider is tons of fun and i have many awesome friends. (goths, punks, i have a football player friend, nerds, i have a few preppier friends... it doesn't matter) To be honest, i htink you should dress how you like. Decide one what you think you should dress like, and do it. If people don't like it, well then screw them. A better way to make friends is to join groups like band, drama, or sports teams. By "New people" do you mean the cool people? or do you mean good friends? if you want to dress cool, buy $70 jeans with rips in them, shirts that are tight and show your belly, highlight your hair and straighten it, and become anerexic. And cary around on brand label bags and clothing. But if you want to enjoy yourself, just have fun with it. For instance, i've worn tall black and pink striped sox, sketchers sneakers with rainbow laces, a red plaid pleated skirt, a green tshirt that says "i <3 nerds" and a feather boa, and a Panda hat i made myself, with a purse i made myself out of old jeans all on one day. I can't remember if i wore my army jacket or not. Maybe i did! who cares XD have fun with it! that's my advice.
rockstarxlove answered Thursday August 4 2005, 1:58 am: ok well if your not snobby then no one should think your snobby. Dont worry about that too much. Well i like aeropostale, red eye, hollister, abercrombie, bliss (for accesories) and american eagle. theres more, but those are a few nice stores.
mooch789 answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 7:24 pm: Maybe just wear a cute t-shirt and a mini skirt one day and wear a shirt and pants the next. Good luck! Hope I helped! [ mooch789's advice column | Ask mooch789 A Question ]
MusicMuse008 answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 1:58 am: Dress like you would on any other day. You don't want people to think you're something you're not. If you want to meet new people, introduce yourself to all sorts of people and keep a smile on your face. People love to talk about themselves, so ask your new acquaintances questions about themselves. And pay attention to their answers too, that way you can gauge whether or not you have a lot in common. Thatta way you'll be able to decide if you want to pursue them as friends. Hope your day goes well! [ MusicMuse008's advice column | Ask MusicMuse008 A Question ]
xRoOxiSxBlOnDex answered Wednesday August 3 2005, 1:41 am: Don't worry about what other people think! You'll miss time that you could be having fun and enjoying the new school and your new surroundings. Just shop for things that YOU like, and get a lot of basics. That way, you have a lot of plain things, that you can match with a lot of more extravagent jackets, jewelry, etc. Have fun!
