Be very very careful when you use a ouija board. Although Parker Brothers manufactures some that can be bought in toy stores, it is most definitely NOT a toy! The spirits that communicate through ouija boards have a lot to say, and like not all people are good... not all spirits are good either. They can be tricky and deceptive... they can say they're demons or the Devil himself and really spook whoever is using the board. Unless you are highly capable of controlling the spirits that come through, its not something you want to mess with.
Also, once you call spirits forward using the board, you better know how to make them leave. Good or not, you don't want spirits thinking they've got an open invitation to live with you or follow you around.

storageanddisposal answered Saturday July 23 2005, 8:21 pm: I've learned in my psychology classes that they, in fact, do not work.
Here is the best example I can think of:
A few years ago, this company developed what they thought was a solution to the education of autistic children. While those who were incapable of speaking couldn't answer, they could give a respond through an aid and a keyboard. It seemed to flourish until secrets started to surface. Children all over the place were confessing, through their aids, that they had been sexually abused by their parents, beaten, etc. Through investigation they found that none of the accusations were true.
It was all the 'aids' subconscious. Tests were run by having the aid's view blocked from the question while the child him/herself tried to answer. None of them could. The aid was subconsciously answering for them and unaware of it. It's the same principle with the ouija board. It's the same part of the subconscious that moves the pointer. Part of your subconscious moves it instead of a ghost or spirit. [ storageanddisposal's advice column | Ask storageanddisposal A Question ]

Karen answered Saturday July 23 2005, 5:05 pm: In my opinion, yes it does work. I actually know a few true stories that took place near where I live with a Oujia board. Before I actually tried out a Oujia board, I didn't believe that it worked. Yes, everyone's going to have their own opinion on this but it doesn't work all the time. Mackenzie answered Saturday July 23 2005, 4:59 pm: Meh. I guess this is more of an opinion question. Some say it does, others say it doesn't. Personally, I don't believe it does, but to be honest... I've never given it THAT MUCH of my time. I think that when you have SOOO many hands on one tiny game piece... and the amount of nervousness running through each individual touching the piece... people are bound to shake and move it unintentionally. And of course then there are the ones who purposely move it, and that just angers people... [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
