When you are pregnant you don't get your period... i knwo that.
Is it true that after giving birth you have your period for a month?
After giving birth how do you track your period? Will your cycle fall on the same days it ususally does or do you start a whole new pattern? Is there anyway to predict this new pattern?

What you do have is bleeding from the labor that can last for different amounts of time. Theres no way to predict how long. With my first I bled for a few weeks and with my second for only a few days. After both pregnancies i was put on birth control therefor my period fell during the time of the inactive pills in my pack. [ juneybug6183's advice column | Ask juneybug6183 A Question ]

After giving birth, it is common to bleed for a while but it varies from woman to woman. I know some that have bled for a week while others bleed for up to 2 months.
Your cycle will be a little haywire after pregnancy since all your hormones will be out of whack. The best thing to do is wait till your first full period after the post-pregnancy bleeding and then chart it from there. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]

From what I heard, is that if you contiuously breastfeed, you usually don't have your period for like six months or weeks, I don't remember.

You will have to wear the biggest pads of your life (think depends!) It could last up to 6 weeks, its heavy flow in the beginning and slows down. You cannot determine the pattern of your menstral cycle until after the 6 wks. That is when the doctor will let you start birth control again, and that will depend on nursing. I nursed and did not have a period. great website is lalecheleague.com and ivillage.com/parenting
All this depends on your situation and health-I'm not a doctor, just a new mom. [ askamyanything's advice column | Ask askamyanything A Question ]
mushoku answered Thursday July 21 2005, 11:04 am: I can only respond to part of this - a misconception. Some women will still have their period during pregnancy - and ex of mine had a 2 year old daughter when I met her, and she had her period the /entire/ time she was pregnant.

You may just have it as long as you usally do. After you have birth, I think that you will probally stay on your regular schedule, but to be sure, I would ask a doctor or better yet a gynagologist or your parents. Hope this helped.
