I wasnt exactly sure which category to put this under, but here goes...
Shaving is a BITCH! yes, yes it is. My question is:
Has anyone tried those bladeless shaving kits? do they really work? Does it last longer than shaving? does it remove ingrown hairs too, or should i just go for the wax?
yeah i know, kinda stupid, but im sick of shaving and at least dont want to walk around band camp with a bunch of nix and cuts.

orphans answered Friday July 22 2005, 3:33 pm: i use the bladeless shaving kits, you generally have to keep the cream on for a few minutes more than what it says on the box but it does work!! i have always used it. the only problem i ever had was when i shaved my legs a few days before i did the bladeless one. this made my legs go very itchy and red roar. so dont shave before you do it, but other than that i would recommend them.
hope i helped

This site has a lot of the different kinds of methods of hair removal.
Bladeless shaving kits are exactly like hair removal creams with a cream remover shaped like a razor. Most products from Nair smell pretty bad, but they do the job of removing the hair pretty well.
I personally use Bic Extra-Sensitive skin razors and I haven't gotten a nick or a cut EVER with them. I use them with an extra sensitive shaving gel or a moisturizing shower cream. Even though I do not have sensitive skin, the razor is extra gentle and removes hair just as well as any other razor. [ mapetiteodette's advice column | Ask mapetiteodette A Question ]

ncblondie answered Wednesday July 20 2005, 4:29 pm: I haven't tried the bladeless shaving kits but I do know there are a few more options for you.
You could try waxing. The ouch factor depends on your tolerance for pain. Personally I don't think it hurts that much but I have a high tolerance for pain. You could try a skin-desensitizing lotion on the area or take a Tylenol before waxing to make the pain less.
You can also try one of the depilatory creams. There are several on the market. You just smooth these on, wait a bit, then rinse well. Most do have a fairly strong smell but it fades once rinsed. There are a few new ones that are supposed to smell better but I haven't tried them yet.
If you do decide to stick with shaving, try soaking in the tub for 15-30 minutes before shaving. It will plump up your skin and soften the hairs so they're easier to get rid of. Make sure to always use a sharp razor and make sure that your shave cream is for sensitive skin. Try not to go over the area more than twice since it'll irritate your skin. Exfoliating often either with a cream or a loofah will help keep from getting ingrown hairs. Follow up your shave routine with a shave-minimizing lotion such as Suave or Jergens. I can't remember offhand what the bottle actually says but I do know they work. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
xOchErrytWistOx answered Wednesday July 20 2005, 4:25 pm: Ok, Nair smells. If you ever use nair, you will never use it again. No matter what scent, it still smells like ass. Next, the Veet Bladeless Razor burns. Like the crap burns your legs! The only one I have ever tried that works is the Veet Moose, it came out a few years ago, it worked, but it didnt last much longer then shaving. I would just stick with shaving and just be more careful. Try the moose though if you want to.

AskAndy answered Wednesday July 20 2005, 3:46 pm: They don't last longer, they smell, and irritate. Stick to shaving. I've tried Nair and Veet, and they suck. Go for the wax, but prepare for pain! [ AskAndy's advice column | Ask AskAndy A Question ]
