birthday party

Question Posted Monday July 11 2005, 2:48 pm

Okay so i go to a small high school i'll be a senior, and i hang out with this group of people and i mean we're all really close, and it's really weird cause theres i'd say about.. 50-60 of us, but we all hang out at school at lunch together and take up this big spot and everything. Anyways there's guys and girls. I really want to have a birthday party this year i'll be turning 17. because i didn't do anything for my 16th really and i haven't ad one since like 6th grade. but i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to do with so many people. my friend had her 16th bday at this big hotel room thing..like whats downstairs..and there was a dance floor and a dj and food and stuff. so i dont really want that. i would just feel bad if i didn't invite some people cause we're all like best friends..and thats what makes it hard. 50 best friends? whaatt.. i mean i have ONE BEST BEST friends, but everyone else is pretty much the same. any ideas?
oh and my bdays in november.

Oh gosh. I totally know how you feel. I have a huge group of friends, like a million. It's usually a weird situaton to be put in because I go to a pretty big sized high school and the people I hang out with all go to different high schools but for the most part we hang out together. If I do something and can't have that many people over it upsets the others. If you want to do something then go out to eat for you dinner or something. Afterwards if you like to drink or whatever it is you do with your friends, try to do that. It's never easy and in the end if you can't have as many people then I wouldn't know what to do. Ask your parents about it. If your birthday is in November than you have quite a bit of "convincing" so you may be able to throw something at your house.

OK, there is just no simple way to plan a party for 50 friends without getting a space to accomodate. One way to simplyfy would be to break it down and have two smaller parties. Just make sure no one gets invited twice, and things will be much more simple. However, if you want to avoid dividing your friends, you will have to think about a bigger space. November is a bad time for a pool party, and if you don't want to spend money on a hotel ballroom or something similar, try a block party on your street. Invite your friends and neighbors to help you celebrate your birthday in a huge way that will help everone feel included. Men in the neighborhood can team up to grill burgers and hot dogs, the women can make side dishes like potato salad and other delicious outdoor food, you can all play basketball, listen to music, play games, and celebrate life, particularly yours. Good luck planning your party. I hope that my idea has helped in some small way. Please feel free to email me to ask more questions.

You should invite all of them or most, more people more fun!, you should have a huge stero provided by one of them and if you have a big backyard then use that, and a tent, with snacks on it, and a bon-fire, and alot of lights, and mayb go to the movies before all this:-) and do cake and ice cream, like you could have them make their own sundae:-)

is there a nice hotel nearby where you can maybe have an indoor pool party that will fit 50 people? that sounds like it would be fun...i actually had swimming in the indoor pool as an after party type of thing and everyone seemed to have fun

or maybe a halloween costume type bday party? you could rent out a firehouse and have food and music and invite everyone ,,but in your question you mentioned how you didnt want that..hmm

well where do you live? do you live in a place where november is still an ok month to do something outdoors? like have a get together at your house or a friends house who could have a bonfire, bbq, trampoline, a pool is always a plus..just yoour house or a friends house where everyone can have fun

maybe make reservations at a restaurant for 50 people and have everyone eat and eat and have a good time..but then money issues come into play..i guess asking everyone to pay for their own bill is cheesy..

maybe plan a trip..where you and your friends go somewhere for the weekend..they pay their own way of course..but i dont know if things would get too crazy and hard to plan

maybe everyone go to a concert together

its hard to think of ideas for 50 ppl to come to that isnt one of those dj parties..i hope my suggestions helped spark a good idea or something..im sorry if i didnt help at all

Man this is a toughie. I was gonna say 'barbeque' straight away but your birthday is in November which means the weather is likely to be crummy. Unless you wanna move your birthday party forward (which might be a good idea) you'll have to find somewhere inside that can fit all your friends. You could always go down the old 'disco' style party route, or if you had a friend with a huge house you could have the party there. as long as you make it 'by invitation only' you could invite all your mates and keep out any undesirables. Well, i hope that was SOME help, but if you do go for a bbq and move the party forward sens me another question, cos me and my girlfriend are doing one and have been planning it forever.
