This is kind of embarrassing, but I'm concerned that I'm not normal. What is the usual number of bowel movements a person should have per week?
Ag, Thank you!

Your body will usually take care of that. Plenty of water and exercise will help keep you "regular". :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

I've read somewhere that everyone gets constipated (I'm assuming that's what you mean by bowel movements...unless it's the opposite of constipated) at one time in their life or more. It might be embarrassing, but just remember you're not alone.
I think the "average" amount a person should have bowel movement at least once a day and two would be even healthier. Because just think...all of that food you're eating...it has to go somewhere; not all of it is just vitamins your body absorbs. lol. 1-3 times a day would be healthy. However everyone is different and it could range between 3 a day to 3 a week. If you haven't had a bowel movement for a long time and it's painful for you I advise you to buy those constipation pill type things. They help you go to the bathroom, but you can't use them all the time. It should just help you out and after that the rest is up to you (and by that I mean how you eat).
So what can you do? Drink LOTS of water (to soften it up and help your body pass waste), eat healthy, and eat lots of fiber! Fiber...like salad. It's greens that have fiber and our bodies can't use it, but it does help your bowel movement and get it going. That's why people always tell you to eat your greens.
If you want more information just search it up on google. Here are some links for you already:

Having a condition doesn't make you not normal, it just makes you...um...let's put it this way, everybody has something weird about them. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
