FunnyCide answered Tuesday June 28 2005, 10:47 pm: Actually, I used to be the same way. If I was sad, or I had a problem or something, I'd be all gung-ho with God. I'd talk to Him like there was no tomorrow. But, when things straightened out, I would just... do my own thing, walk my own road, cut my own trees, and typically ignore God. But, I got my act together and I love what I have now. I think you'll really love it, too!
I talk to God about EVERYTHING! That means, my boyfriend, my cat, my dog, my imaginary pet giraffe, my play lines, drama practice, the people I have problems with, my headphones, Coca-Cola, speakers, infection in my ear, the clothes I should wear to church tomorrow, VBS, lunch, every person I see, ASL, the weather - if you name it, I've talked to God about it. Even weird things like, "Hey, God, paper or plastic?" -- Seriously. Don't be ashamed to talk to God about "boy problems." Remember, God created them! Don't be ashamed or afraid to talk to God about "girl problems" either. God created girls and puberty and hormones and He knows that girls have more drama and attitude than boys typically do. He created you afterall. He should know when you're worried about something. Sure, it'll be a little weird. I mean, I know it was for me. "Uh, hey God... you know... I like this boy, and he's going to be at this dinner... I'm really afraid!" (though those were not my words, I know that girls everywhere have prayed something like that.) God knows about everything. He knows that you like to paint your nails pink (or black, whatever) and that you like this boy named John Doe, and your dog is sick -- He knows it all -- but He wants to hear it from you! So tell Him.
One thing I don't like about the way Christians pray now is that when they say "Amen," it's a closing to the conversation with God. That's like being on the phone with someone, and all of a sudden, you stop talking and the other person is still there, trying to talk to you, but you're not listening. God is the one that you don't want to "hang up the phone" on. As my "pact," I don't say the word "Amen." I'm constantly praying - talking - to God. He's my Father, and I want to talk to Him alot. To help me remeber to pray constantly and consistantly, I have one nail painted blue. I thought about painting it black, but it's VBS week and I don't want to scare any little kids. Whenever I look at that nail, it reminds me to pray. I think "Why is my nail blue? And why only one nail? Oh.. yeah... Pray." Other ideas to help you remember to pray constantly and consistantly include:
-drawing a black dot on your hand
-draw a black (any color really) cross on your knee
-draw a fish on the top of your foot
-paint one nail
-write something on your hand (the word "God" or "Pray")
-write the word pray on your knee
-draw a smiley face on your arm
There are so many things you can do, I know you're capable of coming up with something.
Also, when you say a prayer, it doesn't have to be ten minutes long! Often I just say a "flash prayer" that is like "God, help him. He looks scared" or "Comfort that child and don't let her be afraid to leave her mom" or "Bless the pastor today, Father." Something short and simple gets the job done. You don't have to say big words, God made the little words too! He understands you. You don't have to pray out loud. Some people like to pray out loud, but I don't. Sometimes I'll sign a prayer (I take American Sign Language) or say it in my head. I know God hears it. But most often, I'll write my prayer. I keep a notebook journal thing that I write my prayers in. This is just my idea because I'm a writer at heart. I've heard of people with little tape recorders who will talk to God, but record the prayer (just because they want to). Just remember, you can talk to God about anything and everything.
Hey, if you need anything else, don't be afraid to talk. :-)

Pray whenever the hell you feel like it. Its your religion and your choices. You don't know what to say - make it up, whatever. Say nothing at all, it may very well make no difference. [ poa's advice column | Ask poa A Question ]

Its good that you pray to god when your sad though! He SHOULD be the person you would turn to when your mad/sad!
DeeSireDiOr answered Tuesday June 28 2005, 10:18 pm: Hey
well i have an idea. When your happy take a minute
to thank god! Because without him watching over you you would not be happy at that moment. That way your not blocking him out!
Teza answered Tuesday June 28 2005, 10:16 pm: No matter what, God always knows that you love him. Every night before you go to bed just say a little thank you prayer. Say you love him and you are thankful for everything and to keep you and your family and friends safe! Its good you at least pray. Good bless =]
