okay well i got my period on friday, and i'm going swimming like saturday or sunday probably. my period lasted a week last time i got it and that was the first time. so should i be worried? because i know if i use a tampon there probably wouldn't be enough blood or whatever.. and can't that cause tss? i'm just scared if it will happen in the pool or something
thanks, i rate high for good answers that will work
fall_to_pieces answered Tuesday June 21 2005, 3:37 pm: i don't think you should be worried.
you are going to have your period when you go swimming and you can't change that.
just use a tampon and make sure to change it every four to six hours.
tss is will only occur if you wear the tampon for over ten hours.
just have fun, forget that you have your period, and don't forget to change the tampon.
hope i helped. [ fall_to_pieces's advice column | Ask fall_to_pieces A Question ]
ThugGirl041790 answered Tuesday June 21 2005, 1:21 pm: wear a tampon just try not to swim a whole lot or atleast change the tampon in like 4 to 6 hours later.. i think if your swimming it might increse the chance of you starting cause you are exercising plus this would only be your second period.. i dont think you have much to worry about.. ♥ Dez [ ThugGirl041790's advice column | Ask ThugGirl041790 A Question ]
pinkfairy1773 answered Tuesday June 21 2005, 1:07 pm: well TSS was caused by using tampons, then half the girls would've gotton them
TSS is a dieses that you get when you leave Tampon for longer than 3 hours...
so you have to change it frequently and it wont probably happen if you just use it one day and if you just remind your self to change it...

The blook with go into the cotton so just dont worry about it. ♥ // ex_oh [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]
Girlwithamansname answered Tuesday June 21 2005, 7:19 am: Going swimming while you've got you're period is perfectly fine and nothing to worry about.
I would suggest that you use a tampon so as to avoid any leakage. They really aren't as scary as some people make them out to be. Read the instructions and use and applicator if you aren't used to them. Don't leave it in for longer that 4 hours and you should be fine.
karenR answered Tuesday June 21 2005, 7:19 am: No don't be worried. If your still having it, it will be pretty light by then. You get Toxic shock Syndrome from leaving a tampon in to long...Anything over 8 hrs is much to long. In all honesty, having worked in the medical field I can tell you that most cases of TSS happen to those who put in a tampon and then just totally forget its in there. I never could quite understand how a person could do that...but it happens more often than you would believe. So, tampons are perfectly safe so long as you remember they are in there! :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
The_MoUsY_spell_checker answered Tuesday June 21 2005, 2:42 am: Actually, don't worry. The blood won't come out when you're under water because the water pressure will stop it. Just get changed right after you get out of the water and you should be alright. If you use a tampon (you might want to use one just in case if your period is heavy, but you don't have to), just don't keep it in for too long.
