eyes

Question Posted Saturday June 18 2005, 7:58 pm

I'm Eurasian (half Spanish/Portuguese half Chinese) and i LOOOOVE black eyeliner!!! I'm not sure whether I should line both lids or just the top. I like lining because I think it looks better than just the top but my mom thinks I look unfriendly, evil, sallow, like a raccoon (even though I smudge it with a Q-tip and I put it on lightly!) and like I come from a bad family. I'm 14, I have almond-shaped eyes (but I like have the folds over my eyelids), and brown hair. Help!!!! Sorry if this sounds self-centered, but all my friends are away, and I have nobody else to ask!!! sorry that it was so long! :)

My eyes aren't really tilted as much like most Asian people.

Hello, there. I thought I'd throw in my two cents as I'm eurasian also. My mother is Filipino and my father is American of German descent. I don't have much of a 'crease' to my eyelid and have found that the 'caucasian' rules to eye makeup don't really work for me, or end up looking heavy because my eyelid is flat. My eyes are also small and set a little far apart, with an almond shape.

If I line my eye all the way around, they end up looking smaller and inevitably smudge on the lower lid. I have found that a light line on the upper lid for a day look works best. For evening, I apply a heavier line to the top, and a very thin line only under my iris (colored) part of my eye which opens it up.

I also think eyeshadow is key: most girls now put a light color on the lid, medium color along the crease, and the darkest color at the corner. I prefer an application a medium shade all over the lid. I then highlight the inner corner with the lightest color, and apply a little bit of the darkest color at the outside corner.

Another important technique is using an eyelash curler. Most asian lashes tend to be short and straight. A curler will open up your eyes and make ANY mascara look better. They also offer heated versions now that help if you have thicker hair.

Try looking in different magazines at celebrities with a similar eyeshape as your own. Lucy Liu always has exquisite makeup in my opinion. Good luck :)

Well, eyelineR makes youR eyes look smalleR, so consideR that. Also, if black is too haRsh, I'm shoRe you'd look dazzling with a nice medium bRown lineR. EitheR way, I Recommend keeping it a nice thin line. I wish I could Really tell you whetheR to weaR it on both lids oR not, but honestly.. I'd have to see it to give my full opinion, ya know? I'm not shoRe how much good this will do you, but hopefully I've been of SOME help. :)

Just line the top, a thin line. If you want the white to be emphasised (like if your eyes are bloodshot and you don't want people to notice) line the bottom with white (again, thinly) and use a natural colored eyeshadow.

i think that liner looks good on both top and bottom. my mom says the same thing, but as long as you think you look good, then that is all that matters. your mom will get used to it. i also think that if you just line the top lightly then line the bottom a little darker it looks really good.
hope i helped.

try only lining the outer half of your upper lid, but keeping the lining of the lower lid. also, for the lower lid, use a lighter color on the inside half.

hope this helps- :)

I only put eyeliner on my bottom eyelids. If your mom dosent like eyeliner go with a lighter shade, so it is less noticeable. Like medium brown. Hope i helped!!

So your question is that your not sure wether you should put it on the top and bottom or just the top. right? well if that IS your question I think you should put it on both! it would look very cutee! Your mom will get over it! If you like it, do it!!
