there are online rhyming dictionaries if you search "rhyming dictionary" on google.com, but my advice is to not worry so much about rhyming words, unless you're a rapper. i'd say to write and write, just off the top of your head, for like a page or so just putting things down without thinking about it. then go back and try to put some of the lines together. see if anything works, and then try to shape them into lines you can rhyme at the end. remember, not everything has to rhyme, and for the love of god, please don't rhyme "fly with "high" or "sky" and don't rhyme "love" with "dove."

I write songs too. It's okay if the words don't rhyme. I usually like my songs better when they don't rhyme, in fact. Before I start, I like to think about what I want to say in the song, and then different ways I could say it. Then just mess around to see what works best for YOU. Have someone you trust tell you what they think. Good luck, and if you need anything else, email me at complete_by_nature@yahoo.com.

Songs don't alwayz have to rhyme, just kinda let your heart flow onto the paper. Also, for ryhming songs, you can start out by going with the easy stuff, like... "All of these feelings in my heart, but I don'tknow where to start." lol. Might sound weird, but it helps. Just let your feelings flow. Hope I helped!

MFS answered Thursday June 16 2005, 8:46 pm:
Don't rhyme.

It really can be that simple.

People writing songs get stuck on this whole rhyming stigma where they are totally convinced that all songs must rhyme.

That's crap.

Don't worry about rhyme.

Meter and feel are far more important, as are litterary techniques such as imagery, metaphor, and just having a strong message in the song's lyrics.

I have to ask, by writing songs, do you also have the music written out, at least chord notation?

Don't force yourself to write songs. It's hard to write songs when you're frustrated. So just relax and let it "come to you".

shake answered Thursday June 16 2005, 4:54 pm:
I tend to not write them on anything seriouse. Im not in a band but one day I was at a friends house and decided to mess around.

The first song deal with

Poot nadders and pudd'n

And the other 4 I have no clue.

If its emo crap, you suck. And I wish not to help you.

I wrote a song a long time ago and it sucked to me but then, I sang it again and I realized that it's very powerful and good. Not all songs have to rhyume but I have to admit, it sounds better when it does. Send me your lyrics to kitty_kats123@yahoo.com ok? I'll tell you what I think and if there's anything I think you can say, I'll email you back, O.K?
Hope I helped!
Best of luck!

Mengers answered Thursday June 16 2005, 4:28 pm:
Rhyming dictionaries are the perfect solution! I'm not a serious song writer, but making songs off the top of my head and writing goofy lymericks (with the rhymin dictionary ofcourse) really helps me make good material.

poa answered Thursday June 16 2005, 4:25 pm:
It doesn't have to rhyme. Good lyrics are good lyrics, even if they don't rhyme.

Of course, if you are writing rap music. Just change the last word in every sentence to end in "igga" and listen to a police scanner for inspiration.
