selectopaque answered Monday June 20 2005, 1:32 pm: I wouldn't recommend feeding your cat anything besides the cat food specially formulated for it- if it's a kitten, feed it kitten food, if an adult, adult maintenance food, overweight, feed her diet food, if she's a senior, feed her senior (geriatric) food. These foods are all formulated to be the best for your cat. Ask your veterianarian which one would be best for your situation.
Now, why are you trying to see inside your cat's stomach?
If you draw blood, then you will be able to see what's inside your cat's blood. You can tell a lot of things from the blood of an animal. You could also draw other liquids, like urine, and tell some things that can't be found out with a simple x-ray.
If you want to see something on the microscopic scale, then you need to draw blood, or another liquid.
But, if you want to see what's inside a cat's stomach on a higher scale, then you should take an x-ray.
What's the best way? It all depends on what your looking for. Some cases, you probably need both.
xoxunforgetablexox answered Thursday June 16 2005, 11:46 am: well different cats have different reactions to milk. some may throw it up and get sick, and others will drink it like its water. but to the ones that throw it up, you have to stop feeding them it because they can die. And may i ask whhyyy you want to see whats in a cats stomach? it just seems a little random.. [ xoxunforgetablexox's advice column | Ask xoxunforgetablexox A Question ]

OrionsFire answered Tuesday June 14 2005, 1:54 pm: Cats are lactose intollerant, not to mention carnivores so neither Oatmeal or Milk would be the greatest for you cat.
As far as how to tell what is going on in your cat's stomach, leave that up to your vet. Depending on what they see as being a possible problem, they will do either. [ OrionsFire's advice column | Ask OrionsFire A Question ]
karenR answered Tuesday June 14 2005, 1:27 am: Well milk makes my cat run for the litter box...if we're lucky she makes it! I thought milk was okay for cats but was recently told that wasn't right.
Cats are like anything else. If you want to see whats inside then an X-ray is what it gets.
If you want an expert opinion though drop a line to selectopaque if she doesn't answer here. She's a vet tech student and would give you the best advice of all. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
kaleidoscope_eyes answered Monday June 13 2005, 10:49 pm: The oatmeal and milk thing should be fine, we breed and raise German Shepards and we give them oatmeal, egg and milk mixed together. As for seeing in the cats stomach, an x-ray would be the best thing to do. [ kaleidoscope_eyes's advice column | Ask kaleidoscope_eyes A Question ]
