Lights_Fade_Out answered Friday June 10 2005, 9:15 am: You can be an author at any age. There is no requirement. To publish a book, try going online and searching publishing companies and such. If you feel like it, try looking at the publishers of books you read. Although they may be too successful to publish a 13 year olds book, if it's good enough they will accept it. I'm sure you'll get it published. ;) I'd like to hear about your book some time...my AIM is PutChezyLyrcHere and www.myspace.com/brandnewrox for my Myspace page.
Good luck!

PrincessAva answered Thursday June 9 2005, 11:18 pm: Actually no there is no age limit. And one way you can get your book published is going to an english teacher or a person who knows about writing. Get recomendations from them. Then reasearch up publishing companies that publish the kind of book your writing. Make as many copies as there is publishers your intrested in. Then send out your book with a preferably lenghtly letter on how you wrote this book why you wrote it and how much it means to you that it gets published.
Hope i helped and good luck

jaede answered Thursday June 9 2005, 10:50 pm: There is no actual age *requirement* to be an author; however, at your age, you may find it difficult to be taken seriously by the publishing industry. I would recommend seeking publication first in a teen writing magazine. New Moon (www.newmoon.org) and Teen Voices (www.teenvoices.com) would be two good places to start. This will give you a good track record and let you know what works and what doesn't in your writing.
If you have a manuscript, and are ready to look for a publisher, go to the library and look for the most recent edition of a writing market book. Look for publishers who deal in the kind of writing you do, and be sure to follow their instructions. Do not send out the whole manuscript if they just want query letters. Have someone you trust spell and grammar check any letters you send. Be patient, and prepared for rejections. If you are rejected, rewrite and resend.
ideals answered Thursday June 9 2005, 10:12 pm: That's great.
There is absolutely no age requirement to be an author.
On Oprah there was like a 1st grader who wrote poetry and got amazing acclaims by the NEW YORK TIMES on his work.
In order to publish your work, you need to send your full story/novel, or even your roughdraft to one of the many company's who will set you up with possible clients. They will read what you've given them and say if they're interested or not.
Give this process time.
There were MANY famous writers who got rejected 239847 times before they wrote their acclaimed story.
GOODLUCK LOVELY!
