Bad Odor

Question Posted Sunday June 5 2005, 2:28 pm

This is really embarrasing but...
"Down there" i think has a bad odor (i'm a girl)
Is there anything I can do to stop this? I heard certain foods can make it smell bad, is that true and which ones? Also, is there anything i can put on it or in it or something to make it smell better?

Well That is a major problem.
First off wash it like every day of the week meaning take a shower everyday. There are also some powders you can buy to stop the odor. Use pads. they absorb the oder even if your not on your period. I hope I helped you

ive never heard of the food thing, but it could be the beginning of an infection 'down there', some things you can do are always change your underwear at least once a day and only wear 100% cotton ones for awhile. also after you take a shower, that area will be moist but you can actually blow dry that area because the moisture may be causing the bad odor

hope i helped-

Try a little spritz of FDS. It is usually in cans around the pads and tampons. I don't recommend douching, because it can dry and iritate your lining. Also, most of what you smell does not come from the area that would be douched, but rather from outer areas. A "musky" smell is perfectly normal.

And yes, it can be affected by eating, drinking, and smoking. Stronger smells are caused by lots of meat, garlic, spicy foods, onions, and alcohol. Also, smoking tobacco or marijuana is said to increase odors. Often birth control, especially the pill, will actually reduce smells. Drinking lots of water and eating fruit is supposed to reduce smell.

Other tips: wear only cotton underwear. Wash and dry "down there" well, every day, being sure to get into the folds. If you're really sensitive about the smell, carry unscented moist wipes in your purse, and use them every time you take a trip to the bathroom.

Hope that helped!

YOu can try doucheing. ONce a week, is good. More often is not good. The sell it in the stores, Eve is one, ad Massengill is another. But actally it is best to only douche one a monthy, after your menstrual cycle. You see if you upset the bacterial and yeast balance in there, you could end up with a yeast infection, which is not picnic.

I would say that food like aspargus and maybe garlic may cause odor, and certainly junk food full of chemicals and artifical flavors and colors. All natural is best. Fresh fruits and veggies.
BUt please don't go overboard a musky odor is normal and preferred, really.
Just make sure you shower or bath each day, that is most important.
