Say things like what happens if your car breaks down and you need a ride? and What happens if you're on your way home from work and I need to contact you about something? or What if there's an emergency and we need to contact you? These things should convince her to take your phone. Can she know that your dad will get you a better phone? If so then tell her what your dad told you. If not and she's concerned about you not having a phone tell her that you can use a friends phone if you need to contact someone of need to be contacted.
