sdog1205 answered Monday May 23 2005, 8:42 pm: I do that all the time. Something that helps me is I make sure that that's all I have to do. For example say I have a history project due in 2 days. I'll try to organize everything. I'll sit down and make a list of things that I want or need to get done and prioritize them. I know it sounds really annoying and time consuming but trust me it helps. Try it and if it works then great.
XXkaiiOO answered Sunday May 22 2005, 9:32 pm: well you just have to try to do things as soon as you can and not put them off.. It will seem hard at first but after a while it wont be that hard. [ XXkaiiOO's advice column | Ask XXkaiiOO A Question ]
orphans answered Sunday May 22 2005, 2:40 pm: Make a list, according to how badly you want it done, then do one thing at a time, make plans, get other peole involved so you wont back out and make them feel bad, that should help kick your procrastination problem. flavor_of_the_week answered Sunday May 22 2005, 2:27 pm: start a routine from when you get home from school. that helped me. set limits for yourself like no aim or televisino until im done with my *homework for example. I used to be one of those *save your homework till late sunday night kind of people. but i realized why cram it all in one night where you can just get it over with friday & enjoy the rest of the weekend! :-D
Mackenzie answered Sunday May 22 2005, 6:17 am: Make a schedule, and stick to it. Go home immediately afteR school, and staRt youR homewoRk Right away. Find a quiet space wheRe you will not be inteRRupted, and make ABSOLUTELY shoRe to tuRn off youR cellulaR, computeR and television! Do not allow youRself to go anywheRe oR do anything OTHER than schoolwoRk til all of it is completely done. It may seem like a silly, oveRly stRict solution, but hey... school takes dedication, haRdwoRk and effoRt -- that's the only way. It may seem like a pain in the ass now, but it will all pay off in the end. Goodluck to you. Hopefully I've helped out some! =D [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
elscorcho96 answered Sunday May 22 2005, 12:35 am: Try figuring out how long it will take you to do something, when you need to do it, and then do little bits at a time. It's hard, but sometimes you just have to force yourself to do thing even if you don't want to. Just try your best and make sure you keep track of your tasks. LoveNJstyle answered Saturday May 21 2005, 10:59 pm: MASTER PROCRASTINATOR says: hold on ill tell you in a bit.
kidding, um focus like its the day before the deadline and reward yourself if u dont procrastinate. or give yourself a certain time to goof off...like half an hour or create a schedual and stay motivated. thats all i can think of. it really takes a big problem due to procrastination to get it through your head that you must stop (trust me.) <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
HyperactiveMiss answered Saturday May 21 2005, 10:57 pm: I answered a question somewhat like yours. I'm sure you'd like to hear it...so here it is again:
You are the only one that can make yourself do what needs to be done. You could set up daily, weekly, and monthly goals for yourself. Pin 'em up on your mirror, etc so you see them every day.
You can make a daily schedule for yourself and follow that. For example: Finish homework before 8:00 PM so you can log on to the computer. If you don't finish by then, you can't do fun stuff.
A tip is to never make goals, schedules, etc way out of your reach. Make them so that you ARE able to accomplish them if you try. Making goals you can never accomplish will just discourage you and you'll never get anything done.
Pull out your grades and take a look. If you haven't been doing too well, that'll motivate you to work harder. If you've been doing alright, that'll motivate you to do even better. If you're doing excellent, that'll motivate you to keep it up.
Set up study dates with your buddies. You guys can study together and get a soda after you're done. It's productive, and fun too!
I'm sure there are plenty of other ideas to get you going. You'll just have to think of them yourself. Remember that if you don't change now, you'll never change later. As you get older, it's harder to change. So start setting good habits now. Procrastinating will be even harder to deal with when you're older. Good luck on your finals and good luck with...life!
