smooth and straight...please?

Question Posted Thursday March 31 2005, 3:39 pm

Hey,
I have horrible frizzy, thick hair and i like it best when its straight. I.ve tried a range of products (straightening serums, shampoos, conditioners, sprays..) but nothing seems to work at all. i have one of those 'wet to straight' straighteners (£80) and if you use it when its wet it frazzles your hair and i think it ruins it (its says it locks in moisture but im not too sure it does). I've tried Sunsilk straight and sleek, Frizz ease, shockwaves extreme straightener..etc..and im going to try that Hot Straight from the advert that stars Beyonce. My bathroom is filling up with half used hair products and i want to find one that works.
Also i dont even know how to apply all of these products so they could be exactly what im looking for but i just do it wrong.
I want smooth, sleek and straight hair where it seems every hair strand is individual and soft . I want it to be dead straightand shiny so if i had it in bunched and took it out it would bounce back into straightness
If you know anything that will make this happen or ave any advice please help me..:-)
LuV
Rachel

Wow, i have the same hair as you, well maybe alittle diffrent.
Tips:
1. Go get your hair thinned.
2. When you put in conditioner only put it on the bottom of your hair, not on the top.
3. Dont brush your hair it will only make the frizz worse.
4. Not everybody had stright smooth hair, you just have to live with your curly hair. Learn how to manage it. then try to strighten it.

Lovely.

okay well thoose wet2straight hair straigheteners dont ruin your hair if you know how to use them, but dont work to well when your hair is wet. i would use a normal straightener, i like vidal sassoon, when its dry and when its not use wet2straight and then run over it quickly with a normal straightener. and as for frizzease, that helps your curls stand out, so i wouldnt use that. but if you dont have time to straighten it or you burnt your hair and cant straighten your hair for a little bit, i would use scrunching spray or mousse to make you curls stand out, but only brush you hair before you put the product in ((thats for when you dont straighten it))
hope i helped!

I know EXACTLY where you're coming from. I have naturally straight hair but in August I got a perm in it and now my hair is a mess. You need a straightner that you can use on dry hair (if yours does that then you're in luck) Wash your hair, blow dry, (trust me) then straighten it. This works like a charm. Your hair will be gorgeous, sleek, and oh so soft. No one wil be able to resist.

Good Luck!

Sry this is long but believe me its worth reading. OMGosh i was going through the same rob;em! frizzy hair, good when straight. well...first i got a relaxer whcih defrizzes your hair. its a hair treatment you get at a salon..like around $100 for 6 months....but then i went to a website. www.folica.com and it had like a whole section about straighteners...so it has a chi and stuff but i read the reviews for that and it wasnt so great. then i saw a top 10 hair straightener seller list, and number one was called a sedu ionic straightener 1 1/2 inches, and it was also rated best straightener. Then revies for it were great, it had like 4.76 or somehting out of 5 star rating. SO its like $116 i know a lot....but its the BEST investment ever, like im serious! my hair was the poofyest frizziest hair ever! I had ot have my mom blow dry my hair all the time. Now i can starighten it all by myslef and it only take like 20 min which is good for my hair, and i just have to air dry my hair, also my hair is curly and theres a lot of it! just try the website look for the sedu 1.5 inch straightener and read the reviews! I hope you really look into it! Its os worth it! Hope i helped!

i've got similar hair to you by the sounds of it! Ive got wet 2 straight straigheners and I believe that they keep my hair in better condition than normal straighteners. Tresemme is great- i use their conditioner to really moisturise and it keeps it smooth. The secret ingredient is Tresemme heat protection spray which smooths and protects against heat. This is what I do and it works really well but maybe if this didn't you could consider getting a hair cut which really thins out your hair. This is would then make it far more manageable.

Dear Rachel,
My hair is the same way. I love when its straight and hate when its curly. You should really try a revlon straightener. It works the best!! What ever you do dont use a conair straightener they are a piece of junk. Good luck!

Well, I have some crazy hair when I don't do something to it, but there is certain shampoos and conditoners for hair just like yours. I personally don't have hair like yours, but i'm sure if you look in the store and you look for shampoo for the type of hair you have, it'll help. As for the frizzy puffy hair thing, Friz-ease works very good. You want to apply it before you dry your hair, while it's wet. After you dry your hair you can apply this product called BioSilk. It's amazing. It makes your hair smooth and takes all the "Fly-aways", well, away! Chi flat-iron straighteners work best. They are undamaging to your hair, a pretty cool huh...

//edit answer

I don't reccomnd permantently straighting your hair, because it's pretty harmful, but you could find a product that is for straighting you hair. My sister has gel that is for making her hair curly and I know the pantiene Pro-V has a straighting type of that gel, also apply when wet
