Question Posted Sunday March 27 2005, 9:13 pm

Ok...I've never met this kid in person but I talk to him online all the time. He's lets call him J's friend, and lets call him B. Well J told me that B likes me...I want to know if it's possible to like someone that you never met in person? I think I like him.

its dangerous because they could be like 49 year old killers. you would need to bring an adult along with you.

It's totally possible to like/love someone you've never met in person. Mind you, it's different when you DO meet them in person (trust me on this one, I know from personal experience) but yes, it's totally possible.

One of my best friends is dating someone she met online. She talked to him for 2 years or so before she met him in person, at which point they decided to be "serious" together (not date anyone else), and they're still together. That was three years ago this summer.

It was obviously different, getting used to the physical things that this person does when you meet them, but the great thing about knowing someone online is that there is a high rate of self-disclosure (the things about you that make you special, like the things that you enjoy, the things that you two share in common, etc...) and being that you share so much with that other person, chances are that you're really getting a feel for the other person. This is all of course, versus actual in-person dating, where small talk usually takes up most of the 'alone time' you two will have.

You can certainly like the personality they show you on line. Doesn't mean you will like what ya see! Proceed with caution. And, if you decide to meet the guy or something, make sure it is in public place and take a friend or family member with you. Be safe.

Well it just means you like someone deeper than appearence in my opinion. By only talking to them you like them for their personality I'm guessing, or that's how he feels. I think that is great, and if he's friends with someone else than you know it's safe. I'd say if you like him that you should completely give it a chance and meet him. :)

Definitely possible. But before you give out any personal information. MAKE SURE this kid has a webcam and a mic so you can see if he's who he says he is...

Good Luck -- and be careful.

You can, but I really don't advise it unless a friend that you trust knows him well, which it sounds like you do, so I'd say it's safe, and yes, if you like him, have fun!

I believe so. If you can talk to him about most things. You would have to meet him though and talk to him and hang out with him in person. He can just be acting fake on line. I know exactly how you feel though. Good luck.

Yes it is possible. Liking someone for their personality because you guys talk and have a connection online. Its happened to me before. But actually "going out" is a while different story!!

Karen answered Sunday March 27 2005, 9:18 pm:
I think it is possible to like someone that you've never met but usually it really isn't possible because you really don't know how this person acts in real life. It is possible but online relationships never work out; there's always a slim chance that it will for some people.
