Question Posted Sunday March 27 2005, 2:03 pm

Ok this is a really stupid question...but please bare with me. I can't apply eyeliner! Whenever I do, it looks very fake, and it looks like I just drew a line around my eyes. How do you apply it properly so that it blens and looks my natural?
I rate 5's!!!!

Well i just started to wear eyeliner not too long ago also..i dont wear it on top but only on the bottom cuz im eyeliner challenged..haha but to put it on the bottom only put it on the part that is almost in your eye..not below the bottom lashes..and wear darker eyeshadows on top/mascara and it still looks like eyeliner!

instead of using dark black, you could use brown. pencil liner doesnt have as much of a dramatic affect. also, u dont need to put it around your whole eye. sometimes just the corners look good. <3

Okay, I have a cousin that has the same problem. All you have to do is go over your bottom eyelashes (not under) and make sure you go on the inside also. TIPS: For a smokey look, blend/stroke your line with a make-up sponge. For your top, just follow your top lashes. Just remember, too thick looks trashy. You may want to ask a relative to deminstriaght this tecnique to you if I didn't help, but I hope I did.

hmm it's kinda hard to explian..but i'll do my best...
When putting on eyeliner you can't do it too thick or its will turn out looking fake, you have to keep it as close to your eyelashes as possible..When i do my eye makeup, if im using a pencil eyeliner, i put it on first then kinda blend it with eyeshdow to make it look more natural.Or some times ill put it on the inside/underside of my eyelid..like right underneath your eyelashes..or if i want a more dramatic look ill do my eyeshadow then use a liquid eyeliner on top of that...not thick... a thin line strait along the top of ur eyelashes.
hope that helped...goodluck

Instead of using the typical eyeliner pencil or liquid liner, apply shadow as a liner. It's more soft and natural looking.

What you do is buy a good eyeliner brush. Next wet the brush and make an X in your eyeshadow to coat the wet brush. Make sure the eyeshadow on the brush is somewhat moist, and start lining your eyelid. I wouldn't recommend lining the bottom part of your eye, it looks fake on almost anyone. After lining your eyes with the shadow, if you're happy with how it looks, leave it, if you want it to look more dramatic, take a qtip and blend the eyeshadow liner upward for a cloudy/smoky effect.

Good luck!

This isn't a stupid question at all. To apply eyeliner properly so that it looks natural, you need to use a color that goes with you and apply it as close as you can to your eyelashes. When you are applying eyeliner on your eyelid, close one of your eyes and make your look like they are Chinese (I'm not prejudice or anything) and put the eyeliner on that way. That will help and it will look natural. When you are putting eyeliner on the bottom of your eyes, apply it slowly and don't make the line thick. If you mess up, take a q-tip, wet it, and fix your mistake. Go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and look for more tips on how to apply eyeliner so that it will look natural. I hope that wasn't confusing.

MaybexMemories answered Sunday March 27 2005, 2:20 pm:
Maybe you should try applying it darker. It may look a bit dramatic. But thats what I do and it doesn't look "fake". When your putting on your eyeliner, make sure that your eyeliner pencil ISN'T completely sharp, you want more of a rounded edge for a more fuller look in your eyeliner.

Also, it could depend on the color your using, are you using black eyeliner? Because if you are then you shouldn't be having this problem, but it could also be the brand your using. Try using a pencil eyeliner like NYC, liguid will look fake.

Well, first of all, make sure you're using a right colour.

To apply the eyeliner, try to get it as close to the eye as possible, so there isn't any skin inbetween the eye and the eyeliner. Don't put too much on either.

Good luck with it.
