Hi,
I am ALWAYS craving sugar! This wouldn't be so bad, but I have braces now and have to stop eating it :S I tried eating small amounts but it is still messing up my teeth so I have to stop almost entirely. But I'm so weak, lol, and always eat food with a high sugar content! How can I stop, or at least lessen, the cravings and eat less sugar? I don't like fruit so please don't suggest that :)
sarah0308 answered Thursday March 10 2005, 8:24 pm: gradually decrease your sugar intake everyday! if you want some sugar free candy get some from russel stover! my grandma has to eat that kind and i highly recommend the caramel drops and the toffee squares! they are great for sugar free candy! like i said before, gradually decrease your amount of sugar intake everyday and before you know it you wont have to eat a bunch of sugar anymore!

Tiffani answered Wednesday March 9 2005, 5:11 pm: Hi there,
Well i've just recently come across this amazing new herb called Stevia..its a natural replacement for sugar. Its derived from a plant, and you just need the smallest amount to make things sweet! You can either buy it whole, or now they are even packaging it just like Splenda and Sweet n Low packets. The best thing is it isn't an aspartame product of any kind, its natural. So if you enjoy your sweets like me, you can definitely have fun with it, baking some goodies or adding it on top of your favorite snack. I know its being sold at natural health food stores, and i've actually seen the packets sold in a box of 100's at my local grocery store. I hope you have a chance to try it, you won't regret it! (Fruit...who wants that as a naughty indulgence!!) [ Tiffani's advice column | Ask Tiffani A Question ]
shake answered Wednesday March 9 2005, 5:05 pm: Screw those stupid rules. Since when do people pay attention to those any way? Its worse to have popcorn or gum. Just be at your house, have some sugar and brush your teeth right after. [ shake's advice column | Ask shake A Question ]
Kels answered Wednesday March 9 2005, 3:46 pm: try some cerals, like fruit loops or trix, something sugary (sp?) thinks like that are good! try to set up a plan for yourself. I did that with soda. i used to have anywhere between 2 and 5 a day! now i am down to 1 a week! try something like that. Maybe try to do some reasurch on sugars in your diet, you'd probably be supprised at how bad it is for you, that may help you to cut back on it!!

FrEe2bMe answered Wednesday March 9 2005, 2:48 pm: Well, I don't think that you are alone at all. We all love sweets and sugary stuff. It's good that you have desire to eat healthier and to be more cautious. Now, you need to actually do just that. Try setting a goal and only allow yourself to have a certain amount of sweet stuff in moderation. Go to the grocey store with yuor family and pick out some healthier foods to snack on. Ask you friends to support you also and to watch out for you. Another thing, try using an artificial sweetner like Splenda. It's the safest and healthest and best tasting out of artificial sweetners. Replace that instead of using regular sugar. Reward yourself in other ways when you do well. And discipline yourself when you eat too much of it. Just think about all the negative effects. This is kind of a stage/phase though. Also, think about how horrible yours STRAIGHT teeth will look if they are all rotten from sugar! Eventually, you'll get so sick of it! Good luck. :) [ FrEe2bMe's advice column | Ask FrEe2bMe A Question ]

ShYbl0nD3 answered Wednesday March 9 2005, 2:19 pm: Haha i had the same problem when i had braces. lol. What you could do is maybe tell your self to only eat two things a day that contain high suger. or just cut it down alittle each day. But if your like me and you've been craving suger since you've been little then you'll slowly grow out of it. But chewing gum also helps but make sure its not that really gewwy gum the sticks to the braces. But that helps the sugar craving.
lol h.i.h.
