Running away

Question Posted Wednesday March 9 2005, 11:58 am

(16/f)
It feels like everything I do doesn't make a difference. I always feel like screaming and running away. I feel like running away from my problems all the time, but I know I will never get anything solved if I do get away. What should I do when I get down like that? Also, when I feel like running away...I feel like killing myself, too. What should I do?

sometimes, i feel the same way
(except with the suicide)
just do this.... when you get mad, you should punch something, something soft, like a pillow, and then maybe get a punching bag. think of your future, who you will hurt if you kill yourself. { besides yourself =] } think of the children that you will have, or the man(/woman if you les or bi) that you want to have and to hold and that only you want. and if all else fails, turn to your friends.

First, you should probably seek help. Talk to someone--a doctor, counselor, a trusted teacher. It doesn't have to be your parents if you're not ready to talk to them, but whatever you do, don't kill yourself. You may not live to regret it. Whenever you feel this way, try to distract your mind from these thoughts. IT may seem like your only running away from these problems, but until you talk to an adult or someone you trust, then it's best to occupy your mind and keep your hands from being idle.

Take care.

Here are some suggestions:

-Go for a walk around the park to clear your mind.
-Pretend your a kung-fu master and punch holes in cardboard boxes (believe it or not, it helps! doesn't hurt the knuckles either!)
-Go to the gym and work the stress out.
-Write in a journal.
-Call up a friend for emotional support.
-Start a hobby of painting and paint your feelings on the canvas.

Basically, just be productive. It's not worth running away or hurting yourself over. What I do when I'm in that kind of situation is go for a walk or sit down and realize how lucky I have it. I mean, yea I get pissed at my mom and dad, but I still have my mom and dad. Some other kids are less fortunate and are either orphans or have divorced parents. You're very fortunate for what you have, and although you feel you don't make a difference, you don't have to. Don't do things to prove to someone that you are capable, do it for yourself, for your own benefit. Cuz after all, you know that you won't let yourself down.

Watching the Spongebob Movie helps me a lot too lol. It makes no sense but it's hilarious! That, or you can email me if you'd like someone who can relate and talk to.

I hope this helps and cheer up! :)

I think that you should stop thinking about killing yourself and you should get into sports or something social.....I know it's hard, but you can do it. By the way, have you ever heard the song "Hold on" by Good Charlotte? I'm not a big fan of Good Charlotte or rock music, but you should take the advice in that song.

needtobe answered Wednesday March 9 2005, 1:14 pm:
ive felt like that many times before.
the only thing to do is get out your anger with something...
find out something you love to do.

people take out their feelings on lots of things. they arent always the best ways but here are some examples:

some people eat, or dont eat.
they cut themselves
they play sports
they play instruments
they clean, or dont clean
they...
talk or dont talk.
act happy on the outside but are really sad on the inside.

i hope you feel better because i know how hard it is.

dont run away. it wont get you anywhere.

trust me.

I think it is just a part of being sixteen. I felt like that all the time. In fact I wrote about it, threatened to leave to my parents, and suicede was a daily topic. Talk to someone. I had my boyfriend to keep me from running. Don't run because on top of every thing you will develop some bad habits that will continue into adult hood. You will never learn to face anything if you keep running Try to be open and talk to someone who won't freak out when they hear about these problems. You can email me if you want. I'm 21/f. ktsu0723@aol.com
I hope I helped.
