WOOOOOOO I'm really glad you love playing the piano! I do too! You should prove your mum wrong and practise when you know she's listening. And don't let her talk you into quitting, it sounds like you're really into it and if you keep going you could get really good.

This happened to me. My parents didn't think I practiced enough. Tell her how much you love music. But you also have to show her. Ask her to listen to you practice. I hope I helped! ♥ good luck

How about you tell her when you're practicing? Right before you sit down and practice, go up to her and tell her, "Mom, I'm going to practice the piano now."

MFS answered Monday March 7 2005, 11:53 am:
Ok... being that you just asked about the voice lessons, you might need to decide where you passion lies. If you've been taking piano lessons for a while, there's no reason why you can't continue playing. So, why not go ahead and switch to voice lessons for a while. In fact, you might want to talk to your piano teacher about it, or ask for their professional input on how best to approach this, especially if you'd like to learn to play and sing at the same time.

I'm mostly self-taught on the instruments I play, and there's no reason why you can't let your passion for music fuel your drive to learn it on your own. Lessons are great for refinement of your skills, and admittedly some find the more disciplined approach of formal lessons to be better for their style of learning... so just give it all some thought and don't be afraid to ask your current instructor for their thoughts on the matter.

Hey, i asnwerd your question about singing too but anyway, If you love piano dont quit. Just see if there is a group of friends that want to take lessons and go with them. It would be cheaper.

You should never quit a 'passion' because your mom doesnt like it....unless its dangerous or something, but yeah...keep playing...if you quit, you quit...if you dont...then dont. Tell her its your hobby and you love it....she'll understand...she's your mom.

You need to tell your mom what you just told us- chances are if she hears how enthusiastic you are she'll believe you. Make it a point to practice around her, and act happy (if you're not) during your lessons and practices. Maybe make a practice calendar so she'll see how much you practice. Good luck!
