***I think you should just know however much you use, you can always end up with an STD, so also think about that.

Hey, I was in the same situation. If you stay on the pill the way you're supposed to (take it at the same time every day and all that) then you should be okay.
It is totally safe to use a condom and birth control at the same time, that's actually a good idea. It's about 97 or 98% effective alone, but with a condom it's increased to about 99%
If you're mom is okay with you having sex, really, take advantage of that. If she's willing to buy you birth control pills, go for it, because there are so many moms who aren't, and whose daughters either end up pregnant or sneak behind their parents backs and like, go to planned parenthood and whatnot.
Not that I'm saying I disapprove of PP, I just disapprove of sneaking.
But as I said, if your mom is ready and willing to help you out and all that, I would really take advantage of it. She'll take you to the doctor. It may be embarrassing, but it's a decision you're making, and you should be willing to support it.
Besides...it's better to be safe than sorry, isn't it?
So that's my opinion. The decision is yours, as you know, and I hope this helps!

it is safe to use a condom and birth control at the same time, and actually it's safer that way. i would tell your mom, and you have to go to a doctor to get them even if you tell her, and if your under 18 you need her there to sign for you, becuase you are still a minor. definitely tell your mom, because if something goes wrong, she already knows and it won't be such a shock for her, and she can more readily help you out. but going to the doctor shouldn't be embarassing, and it's for your own health. if you're embarassed to go to the doctor to get the pill, then you're not ready to have sex.

There is a precent that you can get pregnant while on birth control pills. Yea its safe to use a condom and be on the pills at the same time. You should let your mom know because it wold have to do with you and your bf being careful and so that she can fill you in on how to be " protected". Dont be afraid to go to the doctor cuz its good for teens to be worried about not becoming pregnant.

MFS answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 1:48 pm:
The effectiveness of birth control ranges from about 95 to 99% effective, depending on the excact brand/formula. Using dual forms of protection (pill and condom) is always inherently safer. Not wanting to go to the doctor due to embarassment should not outweigh the risks of getting pregnant.

The pill is a very effective form of birth contol if taken correctly. And to use a condom and the pill together is even more effective. If you are too ashamed to ask to be put on the pill, I would take that as a sign that you are not mature enough for sex.

For effective pregnancy prevention it is advised to use a condom and birth control if you are going to have sex. Birth control pills are only about 97 percent effective in preventing pregnancy.

I would absoloutely tell your mother before you decide to have sex. You need to be prepared. Condoms bust or leak all of the time resulting in the transference of STD's and resulting in pregnancy. Don't take that risk if your mother is offering to help you.

As far as being embarrassed about going to the doctor for birth control pills, dont be embarassed at all. Doctors prescribe birth control pills all of the time for young women to regulate their periods, control the hormone levels in their blood, to make them have periods, to prevent the woman from having excessive periods, etc. Most of the girls that I went to highschool with were on birth control pills. The women in my family have all on birth control pills due to hormone irregularities that were passed down from woman to woman. I started taking BC pills in my early teens to correct that problem and to regulate my period. There is nothing to it at all, the doctor will not turn it into an embarrasing situation at all, especially if your mother is there with you. It would be much more embarassing to get pregnant, young unmarried and broke. When you go to the doctor ask him/her to give you brochures on birth control pills, the risks and side affects and so forth. Millions of sexually inactive women take BC pills. There are several types of birth control pills that also help control acne and other dermotological problems. Take care of yourself, prepare yourself.

I hope this all works out for you. Best Wishes!
