Is Codeine bad for you if you take it when you don't need it, like if you take it just to get high or whatever? If it is bad, what does it do specifically that is harmful?
Sophie_xxx answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 4:00 pm: Yeah, it is. It damages your brain, apparently, and has something similar that's in tipp-ex and glue.
Once or twice it'll make no difference at all, but please make sure you don't do it excessively!

MFS answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 10:12 am: Codeine is a narcotic. It is related to morphine and heroin. It is addicting. Codeine can cause nausea, and severe constipation. Codeine will cause you to be very sleepy. Like all drugs, Codeine will slowly damage your liver - constant abuse of it will speed that process up.
Yes, taking codeine for shits-n-grins is just a dumb idea. Addiction of it can be very hard to break, and overdosing can cause delusional behaviour including paranoia.
Many of the narcotics can cause you to lose appetite, which is why so many heroin addicts are sickly and thin.
Other drugs related to codeine that are also shitty for you include: oxycontin (oxycodone), morphine, hydromorphone, hydrocodone, diacetyl morphine (heroin), and about a billion others.
Why anyone would think being constipated, nauseous, and sleepy is a great high, I will never understand. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
Scribble answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 6:17 am: Specifically from a medical perspective, i guess most stuff is bad for you if you take it when you dont need it. What you need to find out is what different dosages do to you. For information of drugs, their derivatives and side affects, check www.streetdrugs.org. Be safe, mate.
