xO_Natalie_Ox answered Wednesday February 23 2005, 5:15 pm: Start off going small distances. It is going to take a lot of effort and dedication but if you go a 1/4 mile one day for a few weeks then slowly raise it until half a mile and keep going like that you will build up your endurance and be able the mile with no problem. Thats okay there are people that cannot do long distance running. It does not mean you are not in shape. Try running in incremennts of quater miles. Run a 1/4 mile for a few days. Then 2/4 for a few days until eventually you are able to run the mile. Dont worry all people have different talents the mile run might not be yours but you can try! good luck =) xo0xo [ ADViCE4YOUx3's advice column | Ask ADViCE4YOUx3 A Question ]
runrunfasterfaster answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 8:55 pm: Run a mile each day around your neighborhood, at school, or on the treadmill. Make sure you are doing the following stretches:
1.) Flamingo(aka quads)
2.) Hamstrings
3.) Ankles (This means you spell out a word with your ankle, so you won't get shin splits)
Also drink plenty of water throughout the day!
Carba are good when it comes to sports also! It helps you gain energy! (Examples of carbs are macaroni and spaghetti)
Practice makes perfect!
And if you are in track/cross country:
After you get better, never try the old slow-at-first-fast-at-end trick. I know, I was suprised to hear my coach tell me to sprint the whole time, but it works, b/c you keep your place and nobody passes you. It really depends on your pace though...
♥ :O) [ runrunfasterfaster's advice column | Ask runrunfasterfaster A Question ]
Karen answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 7:09 pm: Start practicing running more often or doing normal leg exercises to get muscle in your legs. When you are running the mile, start off slow and when you are about to get to the end, sprint. Mostly everyone starts off fast and then they start to slow down during the middle of the mile.

XoKisSesoX answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 6:20 pm: What you can do is run a little each night and gradually run a little more when each run gets easier. Thats what I did to get in shape. [ XoKisSesoX's advice column | Ask XoKisSesoX A Question ]
