Hiya,
I was just wondering...what's the point of a hidden track on a CD? I know they're there and how to get at them and all that, but WHY are they there?
Thanks!!
punk_rock101 answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 5:18 pm: Well i guess that there there to make the cd more... well...lets see...im actualy not sure. thats a very good question.
damiskus16 answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 3:52 pm: I think that it is because not all of the CD's have the bonus song. I think that only 3/4 of the CD have "Bonus" songs when the last 1/4 only has the oringal songs. I dunno but thats what i think

Karen answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 3:07 pm: I've always wondered about this also. I don't know why some CDs have hidden tracks because it shouldn't even be on there. The way I think about hidden tracks is that they are probably just samples of songs that will be on the band's next album. Or it could be another version of a song or such. They are really pointless and just want you to buy the CD to listen to that hidden track.

alexf_2001 answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 2:46 pm: well the best instance of a hidden track i can think of is on robbie william's album; life thru a lens. right at the end after about 40minutes he recites (sp) a poem he wrote to his headmaster that calls him just about every name under the sun! this track was an extra little something special for all the fans that bothered to buy the album in its special edition form originally. as all of the later prints of the cd didnt have this track. and feeder have the track "just a day" on their special edition japanese version of echo park. it's there to reward the die hard fans :p alex [ alexf_2001's advice column | Ask alexf_2001 A Question ]
FunnyCide answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 2:40 pm: I guess to make people think they're getting more than their moneys worth for the cd. Like having 20 songs for the price of 19. I guess that's the point, sometimes it does seem silly, but they're the most fun to sing because you don't have the words written out for you.

MummuM answered Tuesday February 22 2005, 2:14 pm: I always thought about that too. Maybe because it's such a good song, that they have to put it away from the others. Or the hidden track could be a sample song, from what their other songs on their next C.D might sound like. I really have no clue either, it's rather pointless. I guess we're in the same boat about the hidden track thing.
