Lack of sleep

Question Posted Tuesday February 15 2005, 4:12 pm

No matter how late I go to bed, it always takes me at least an hour to get to sleep and I always wake up early. If I go to bed early in order to get more sleep, I don't drop off until around one and I usually wake up at half seven to eight am. My friends and family all seem to be able to get to sleep easily and usually don't wake up until around eleven on non school days, how do I get more sleep? I always keep the same routine at night and I have tried everything, it doesn't matter how tired I am I just can't sleep. What should I do?

Well they say that if you read a book 30 min. before bed you sleep better. They also say dont watch action T.V but you can watch t.v. I personally think watching t.v helps

Sometimes you can't sleep because you have anxiety or you feel you have to much to do and your worried it won't get done, so to organize yourself more at night make a list before you go to bed of the things you need to do.IHIH*KAitlyn

I have the same problem.. only I don't wake up early. I just can't fall asleep at night. First of all, make sure there is VERY LITTLE TO NO light or sound in your room. Sleep with the curtains/blinds/shutters CLOSED so that the sun doesn't wake you up in the morning. As for falling asleep, what I've tried the past few nights is I get into bed (with the room very dark so it relaxes me) and I know its hard, but TRY to clear your mind. Then, even if you aren't tired, close you ares, and say in your head "ugh, I'm soooooo tired." And try to convince yourself that you're tired. I know you're thinking "omg thats so dumb" but trust me, IT WORKS. Just lay with your eyes closed-DONT OPEN THEM-until you fall asleep. Hope I helped!!

Hey
I know this sounds terrible, but try to pray when you lay down. Satan doesn't want you to talk to God, so He makes you go to sleep. I tend to do this without meaning to, and when I do, I finish my prayer as soon as I wake up in the mornings.
You may still wake up early, but you'll fall asleep faster.
Hope it works for ya!

You should see the doctor. You might have a sleeping disorder or something. But not to worry, there's medicine that'll help you sleep trust me.

Hiya,
D'ya go on the computer/playstation/watch TV just before going to bed? Try not to - it can keep you awake longer, as can eating or drinking (even cocoa) before going to bed, so try and cut out on those two :)
Don't panic about not getting to sleep - turn the radio on if it's too quiet, or turn your light back on and read a book or magazine until you feel sleepy. Just don't lie there thinking, 'damn I have to sleep!' because you never will :P
Have you tried lavender pillows? I recommend lavender pillows, cammomile baths and hot water bottles for getting to sleep!!
Also make sure that your room isn't too hot or cold!
Good luck :)
Blessed Be,
Rach xxx
