Tanning salon

Question Posted Monday February 7 2005, 4:02 am

16/f. I've been really curious about tanning salons. I really want to go to one, but my mom is kind of hesitant to let me do such a thing. Aside from it looking "fake", is it as dangerous as a tan from the sun, or is it less harmless? Also, my arms are tan (I have a "farmers tan") from wearing short sleeves, but I can't wear tank tops, show my stomach or even wear low cut tops (I don't want to wear TOO low cut tops, but right now, everything under my neck line is white...) and I want to get rid of that, so how would I even it out in a tanning bed?

it's your decision whether you want to tan or not, but i personally like it =)

if you want your tan to even out faster, put a low spf suntan lotion on your already-tan parts & some tanning lotion on the rest of you, and it should even out fairly quickly. after that, use either nothing at all or just some tanning lotion [ & suntan lotion if you have any burnt spots!! ]

You can get UV exposure information on any tanning bed. I'd recommend you review that data, as well as read a bit on how to interpret the data.

UV radiation is what gives you a tan. Excesses are what can lead to cancer.

Tanning beds, much like the sun, dry out your skin, causing premature aging for those who abuse tanning beds.

I'll flat out tell you that most women I know who use tanning beds do so in the nude.

Either way you tan its still bad for you, but I would say go in your back yard and try and even it out, prevent yourself from using a tanning bed, you don't want skin cancer.I hope I helped -Kaitlyn

Tanning at a Salon is no worse than tanning out in the sun. Either way, tanning is bad for your skin, increasing your risk of skin cancer. So if you must get a tan, it really won't matter where you get it.

umm yes, you will even it out if you visit frequently... i go to the tanning bed but you have to go a few times a week to keep your tan... and i recommend using tanning oil, so you wont burn...
