Question Posted Saturday January 29 2005, 6:45 pm

Okay, in the state that i live in, there is a really good highschool. i took the entrance test to it and i think i did pretty good. I got the letter telling me if i got in or not today and i cant open it until my dad gets back from California. i want to stay where i am because of my friends, but i want to go to the other highschool because its a really nice school and i feel that i can get more out of it. I'm afraid that if i go to the new highschool, ill lose all my friends. But im afraid if i stay, ill be missing out on so much.(education wise). So my question to you is: Which school in this case should i go to?

Hey, thats a really tough descioun.. im thinking of doing the same when i get to high school.. its the same problem, i want to be with all my friends, but yet I want to go to the private high school because I think it'd be worthwhile in the long run (jobs, etc).

The thing is, is that jsut because you switch highschools doesnt mean you will lose all your friends, becuase you will stay in touch and still see them (rite?).. also by going to a new school, you will have the oppurtunity of meeting new people, and making new friends.

Im not sure if this helped you or anything.. but maybe you should make a pro/con list and choose whichever one has the more cons.

I can't just make your decision but you won't lose all of your friends. If you go to your new school then you can meet a lot of new people there and still keep your old friends.

Oo wow! I'm having the EXACT same dillema right now. Everyone keeps saying that it's a great oppurtunity and I should take it, but I'm not sure. What I'm planning on doing is praying about it and let God give me the answer. You have to do whats best for you at the time, don't let other people make your mind up for you. Good Luck! I hope It works out for the best>(for both of us!)

i chose b/w a public school where all my bestest truest goodest friends went and a catholic school where i knew noone, i chose a catholic school(all girls) for teh education. this was this year, im a freshman, i made a best friend at this school, she is the best, i mean it , seriosly best friend ive ever had. (im a little stupid and crazy awnd weird) and shes just like that! lol i dont love any of my other friends like i lover her, okay im sounding a lil weird and this sounds really weird, so im not telling you what to do, its yur decision. make a list of all the pro's and cons between going to a new school or the school where all ur friendsd are going to. who knows..you might have not even made it in..so yea good luck =)

Its a harsh comparison but what would you rather down the road, friends or a good education where you can earn a good living? Your friends will understand that you have to do this and if they dont they are not true friends...

Ok...well i was in the same situation about a year ago...Since i love music i had was thinking about whether or not to go to an fine arts school... I was thinking about if i really wanted music to be part of life forever and possibly go to college for it...and i decided that i would audition becuase music is important to me and i need to jump at every chance to fullfill my dream of becoming a singer. I auditioned and i got in... Of course it was hard leaving all my friends!! but the reality of it is...if you put yourself ahead ten years from now...chances are you probubly aren't really going to see any of your friends that you know now...so in ten years the friends you have now aren't gonna mean that much to you. i no you may not believe it but put it in perspective. But, on the other hand if you go to this school...ten years from now...you could be doing things that you might not have been able to have done if you haden't gone to this school. So in ten years your gonna look back and say, "o that school really helped me im so glad i went" but if u don't go your always gonna wonder" o i wonder what would have happened if i went to that school" or "i wish i would have gone to that school". ya, friends are awesome! and im sure you care about them right now....but think about ten years from now...so your forced to choose between... possible 4 year friendships and a life time of education, experiance and opened doors. you have t think long term...and youll deffinately meet new people at this new school that will be your friends! Ill tell you what, i think i made the best decision..to go to my school....ive already talked to several recording companies and agents and ...if i wouldn't have gone to the fine art school...none of that would've happened. And that goes for anything whether you want to go for education, music, sports, anything...if its what you truly love and will still care about in ten years.... then it will deffinatelty help you! you have to think about it long term! i think you should go...

Hope i helped!

The school is in the same state as you are? So maybe you could keep in touch with your friends andd it might not be so bad. You sound like education is important to you..which is really great. I think you should take this opportunity because you will benefit from it so much more. You would make a whole bunch of new friends in the other high school who will have a lot in common with you. Hopefully you'll make the new friends and keep the old. I think if you call once a week and arrange to visit your old friends a couple times a year at least..you'll be fine. Making a list of negatives and positives for each would help you decide.
