Hermit Crabs
My Hermit crabs have been acting funny lately! One of them is running around with no shell and the others havent came out from under the sand for weeeks.. is this normal for them?

the ones under the sand are molting..not dead...give them time and they'll shed their skin and be done.
the other weird one is just looking for a shell
either that or its under major stress. do not pick it up.

I've been reading a blog by some woman who has hermit crabs - from what I've read there I think it's quite normal for them to stay burried for so long.

Hey you do know hermit crabs grow and you do have bigger shells for them to go into when they get to big for the one they are in cause if you dont that might explain why the one is running around without a shell and the ones in the sand maybe you should find them and make sure they are not dead. hope this helps

you should always have extra shells available for your hermit crabs, its old shell is probably too small. and its ok for a hermit crab to stay under the sand... they like to dig

Well, i had a hermit crab named Sabashton lol well ne ways make sure there are a lot of different sized shells in the tank or cage for the hermit to choose from. Umm, you might want to make sure the others arent dead... Put them in some water Hermit crabs love water. But not too deep just high enough for them to get there legs wet a bit lol. hope i helped.
