Don't brush hair when it's wet.cut down on hair dryers, straightening irons, crimpers, curling irons and hot curlers.Buy a natural-bristle brush that won't pull on hair.Wear a hat to minimize sun damage. Use a shampoo that lists sunscreen as a major ingredient. Condition after shampooing.Try a hair split repair product. It won't actually repair the hair, but it will minimize the stray hair look you hate. [ Juliett's advice column | Ask Juliett A Question ]
azngemini answered Saturday January 29 2005, 3:45 pm: just take really good care of your hair. i used to be split end free until I started straightening it. hair doctors all around the world say that the best way to cure it is to trim your hair. but since you dont want to cut it, you should try using certain shampoos that help restore your hair.

Always use heat protection sprays or products when you blow dry, straighten, curl or use any other heated product on your hair. Wash it regularly and use an anti-split ends conditioner. Just take general good care of your hair and split ends shouldn't be a problem. However, if you do get them then don't leave it for weeks and weeks until you get your hair cut, make an appointment quickly. If you leave it too long then the ends will eventually cause the whole hair shaft to split, which would mean that you would have to get a lot more hair cut off than just the ends. xoRachel answered Friday January 28 2005, 7:08 pm: Straightening your hair causes split ends so if you do it then don't do it as often. Also after you take a shower COMB your hair don't brush it or you'll get split ends faster. You'll get split ends anyway so there's nothing you can do to totally prevent it. if you use garniea fructis shampoo and conditioner or whatever it's called, it helps you stop getting split ends as quickly. Hope I helped! [ xoRachel's advice column | Ask xoRachel A Question ]
