What you should do depends on how old you are and how overweight you are.

If your under 25 your still growing, so you need to be very careful about cutting back drastically on food (other than junk food). It's never unhealthy to cut out things like soda, chips, and candy. It's called "junk food" for a reason. Seriously cutting down on nutritional categories like "carbs" needs to be done carefully, especially if your still growing. If your under 25 and want to try a diet like that, please consult a professional (a doctor or nutritionist). I suggest taking a multi-vitamin if your going to make any drastic changes in your eating habits.

Eating regular, well balanced meals is essential to loosing weight and keeping it off. Let me know if you want more information on eating healthy. If your more than 20 lbs overweight, you will probably need to change your eating habits to loose weight.

If your only 10 or 15 pounds overweight, I think your best bet is to add regular exercise to your daily routine. When you get up in the morning, do 5 min of stretches and pushups/crunchies. Repeat after dinner but a ways before bedtime. Three times a week (for starters) try to get in 30 min of jogging, swimming, bike riding, or other cardiovascular activity. Cardiovascular activities are the ones where you breath heavy and your heart rate goes up.

Also, keep in mind that there are different body types. Make sure your goals are realistic.

Good Luck!

dont believe those stupid diets. people who make those are just trying to get money. you dont need to go on a diet, excercise is the key thing. burn more calories than you eat. try not to eat things like bread and pasta, sweets, and sodas. instead get your carbs from fruits and veggies, and drink a lot of water to speed up your matabolism. eat only snacks every 2 to 3 hours, and if you can, excercise first thing in the morning, and dont eat after 9 pm. if you have any other questions just ask me! hope i helped!! xoxo sarah.

I spent some time and read what everyone wrote before me. Theres a lot of mixed advice, some good some bad. The key is to change your lifestyle and to raise your metabolism not to take a quick fix (of all the people who wrote stuff pay most heed to that rainbowpolka person). Its not enough to say "go excercise" or "dont eat". I will give you some tips on how to eat and excercise to lose weight and keep it off in the long term. 1- Eat 4-6 small meals a day (this raises your metabolism) 2- eat balanced, dont omit any food groups but minimise saturated fat (eg from lard, butter, fatty meat that sort of thing) 3- create a small calorie deficiency (this shouldnt be very large, just enough so you feel a little hungry when you go to sleep) 4 Excercise regularly and do weights(aerobics/running are good for you but only weight/ resistance training will raise your metabolism all day long) 5 dont starve yourself or eat rarely because this will SLOW your metabolism and make your body digest your muscles 6 plan your meals in advance so that any larger meals take place earlier in the day prior to any workouts rather than afterwards. Thats what comes to mind at the moment. Best of luck and feel free to ask me for more info if you need it.

You are like me. I'm over weight too. You can't wear a bathing suit and feel good about it. I found a great diet. Eat 2 bowls a day for 2 weeks and you will lose up to 6 pounds. or you could do 60 sit ups a day. Whatever you do make sure you are happy.-- Paige

Hey...Well I think you should start to excersize and work out....try curves for women...or somthing like that...also eat fruits and veggies....no bread or bagels or donuts...dont eat spagetti or pasta etc. also dont eat ice cream candy or anything fatty. Eat things like an apple for breakfast with some orange juice..for lunch have a salad with peppers some meat olives tomatoes and 4 salad dressing have somthing low fat and low carb..or no carb....for dinner have somthing small because when you sleep you dont burn calories..so have a veggie plate with ranch dressing if you like ranch...But you should be happy with your body cuz its the only one you have so dont abuse it..your beautiful inside and thats all that counts....I hope I helped...

good luck

RainbowPolkaDots answered Wednesday January 5 2005, 7:17 pm:
Yes, absolutely, choose a crazy fad-diet that cuts important things out of your diet. The key to any good diet is balance. You need to cut back on things that are empty calories and junk while replacing them with fruits and vegetables. That crazy food pyramid we're always having drilled into our heads? Yeah, using it might behoove you a little. You need to exercise! Your body doesn't want to lose weight, it wants to maintain the stableness it has going on right now. You need to exercise in order to let your body know that everything's going alright still. Plus, exercise makes you look and feel just amazing, and it can really be a lot of fun. The exercise aspect is just like the diet aspect, you need a balance. You should work your arms, legs, abs, heart. Alright, so basically work everything! Diet pills, skipping meals, puking, starving yourself and fad diets are all over the news for a reason--they're not sure if they work. They hurt your body even more than being overweight would, and they're just one big mistake waiting to happen by someone vulnerable to get sucked into a seemingly promising deal. It won't be be easy, but it is doable. You can do it! Well, good luck!

Shortie8959 answered Wednesday January 5 2005, 6:55 pm:
There's a lot of different diets you can go on. There's Atkins, Jenny Craig, South Beach Diet, a no-carb diet, just pick one that works for you. Just remember to cut down on carbs and fat. Exercise to burn the calories after you eat. No junkfood. You just have to develop a plan. Do about 20-30 pushups, situps, and crunches at night. And never skip meals, because it will screw up your metabolism. Good luck!
Hope I helped!
♥ Erin
