my dog is dying

Question Posted Saturday January 1 2005, 12:16 am

My dog is going on ten (thats like around 70 in human years) he's always been kinda weird but I love him so much. He's on medication because he's a shar pei and has a short attention span and stuff. His meds are kinda like the add medication for dogs. Anyways he also has seizures. He doesn't get them to often but when he does they scare me a lot. To top it all off about a month or two ago he has to have a tumor removed from his left armpit so that he wouldn't die. Recently we've noticed its come back on the other leg. The vet can't do anything about it and he's going to die. I don't know how I'll survive without him. I've known this dog since I was like 4 and can't remember not having him. Please help me to figure out what to do when he is gone. I no I'll miss him a lot.

Well, another dog would be a pretty good solution.
If not, I think they have websites about this kind of scenario, maybe you should check on Google and see.

I know what you are going through because i had a dog for 16 years, i had him since i was 4, and we had to end up puttin him down. The best thing is to remember the good times you had with your dog and how you watched him grow over the years. Also be happy for him becuase he will in a better place when he is gone and he will not sufer anymore. If you have pictures i would put them in like a photo album so that way when you wanna see him all you have to do is pull it out and look. It's always hard to lose a pet you have had for that long because they are not just a pet they are part of your family but remember the good times and that should help you through it.

thats really hard to go through i no because my dad lives on a farm and animals leave and die alot.just try to spend time with him and show you care.save things like his collar or leash or something so your can always remember him.just remember its for the best and he will always remember you just spend time with him before hes gone so you wont feel that bad wen hes gone.

hope i helped.

ps you can always talk to a friend or family member to help you get through your dogs death.

I know what it's like to miss an animal.

My dog is growing old, she had grown, what I've only thought as tumors on her skin, but I decide to ignore them. I only decide to ignore them because I've had the dog since I was 7 years old. She was my childhood dog. When I was growning up, all the neighbors would get together and play with her and chase her around the yard.

The other night, she was throwing up and having seizers. I have not seem this in her, but I've been told by my mother. My mother lives with her and see's her every day. I don't have to see my lovely little puppy go through this every day, but I have learned to accept it. Eventually she will have to be put to sleep. When the time comes, she will be better off.

Until then, I know what you're going through. It's hard to get rid of a childhood dog, but it will eventually be better for the dog.

I hope you have a good Vet. I know of some Vet's around here that give out memorials of the lost pets. If there is not a Vet around your area like that, then you shoudl find your own way to memorialize your animal.

Perhaps if you could get a print of their paw... or something like that, then it could keep their memory with you.

If your dog does have to be put to sleep, then just remember that he will be better off that way. He has lived a happy live with you and is ready to go now.

It's hard to think about, since your not ready to let him go. But just try to think about the fact that he is probably in less pain when he goes.
