K3587 answered Tuesday December 28 2004, 9:29 pm: Whatever you do, follow this list:
1. DO NOT have a prompt come up whenever someone comes to to or leaves your page. It's annoying as hell.
2. DO NOT play music. We used to ban for that, I think. And it's nothing but an annoyance as well. 95% of users do not share your taste in music.
3. DO NOT have a moving or flashing background. This will hurt the eyes of someone who views your page. It will distract them and they will not read your page.
4. DO NOT have a background that interferes with the text. If someone has to highlight the text in order to read it, they won't.
Keep it simple. Have a picture you like, most likely of yourself. Have a nice layout. Make sure the text is easy to read on the background. The main thing that makes your page memorable is not the design, but the quality of your advice. Keep that in mind.
All I did with mine is make the background black and the text white. I edited the HTML a little bit to throw a few more lines into the profile that aren't normally there as well. [ K3587's advice column | Ask K3587 A Question ]
Cath answered Tuesday December 28 2004, 6:47 pm: Hi Sweetie,
...Kitties are cute L.O.L. Maybe if you have music... Murderdolls. I don't know since I'm not a "paying costumer" and have no option to decorate my page. OH! Icons of like people who need help. Maybe someone who is crazy.... there's this one icon that says "I wish I could just CUT you out of my life". Bloody cool. Get that one if you can. The letters chnage and all... the person is a cutter, I guess. Either way, its a badass icon. So freaken cool! GET IT! GET IT! ...I mean, if you want to. Hehe.
Happy holidays! ~Blessed Be... [ Cath's advice column | Ask Cath A Question ]
