superGiRL21 answered Monday December 20 2004, 2:49 pm: Thought it is true that weed is not physically addictive, it can become addictive because of a mental dependency you develop for it-in other words you like the way you feel when you are on this drug therefore you think you can't live without it. If you truly want to quit i have no doubts that you have the strength to however it must be something you are committed to doing-find other things to occupy your time, sports, friends, activities. Otherwise you will just keep doing it and i guess when you finally get sick of it you will be able to give it up. best of luck and stay strong [ superGiRL21's advice column | Ask superGiRL21 A Question ]
JyNxiE answered Monday December 20 2004, 2:38 pm: OF COURSE YOU SHOULD QUIT! It may be great right now, but it'll do you absolutely no good down the road and will most definetely screw up your future. To quit, you should to go to one of those rehab places. Atleast you realize it'll get you nowhere...thats a good start to quitting. And whoever said weed isnt addicting?? I'd think its common sense that it is. In Health class they always beat it in students' heads that it's very addicting. But I'm getting off topic. Talk to someone and get them to help you. It may be hard at first, but it'll be worth it.
zapreth answered Monday December 20 2004, 1:38 pm: They lie, hun. Weed is VERY addictive and hard to stop. You are also correct that you won't get anywhere letting it rule your life. I know a guy with the most awesome talent with guitar and voice, but he can't keep anything together. Every 20 mins or so he needs to go smoke a joint. Total waste, plus his girlfriend walks all over him. Anyway, there are lots of public health sites that can give you information on quitting. Most states have a mental health department that includes treatment programs for people interested in quitting drugs. Make a few calls and see what's available in your area. Good Luck! xoxbellabebexox answered Monday December 20 2004, 10:42 am: find a new addiction like gum that always works. and get the kind that whitens your teeth. so that way your coming over your addcition and whitening your teeth all at the same time. because you probley need it.
XxbrittanyxX answered Monday December 20 2004, 8:14 am: If you want to give it up, you'll be able to. But if your heart really isn't in to it, you're gonna have a really hard time quitting. Weed may not have addicting chemicals or substances in it, but the thing is, your so used to smoking it, it's becoming one of those normal every-day things for you. So I would say in a way it is addicting, so you really should try and stop. 'cause every day that you continue smoking it, the harder it will be to stop when you finally decide to quit once and for all. good luck! *muah* luv britt [ XxbrittanyxX's advice column | Ask XxbrittanyxX A Question ]
Alin75 answered Monday December 20 2004, 5:55 am: The thing about weed not being addictive is not entirely correct. Weed is not physically addictive (you wont get withdrawal symptoms), but it can have a certain amount of psyhological addictiveness. I went through a couple of years in my early twenties when I was hooked on it- and let me tell you I cant remember much from those years lol. Also, if you smoke it in a context where it is mixed with tobacco, then of course you have to add the (much more powerful) addictive properties of ciggarettes which are both physical and psycological. Quiting is of course up to you. Weed is not particularly dangerous, but if you do it regularly it will definatetely start to affect your life (similarly to if you were an alcoholic). I know some people who can smoke a joint in the weekend and then stop. I also know others who devote over half their salaries to weed and do little else than light up. If you are in the latter group, Id say you should try to quit. All I can tell you that quiting weed is just like quiting ciggarettes, theres really no secret way you simply have to endure a couple of weeks of hell (and devour plenty or gum/ lolipops/etc). Good luck. [ Alin75's advice column | Ask Alin75 A Question ]
