rainbowcherrie answered Wednesday November 17 2004, 1:19 pm: Well. If you've just started, it's best to use pads but tampons are way better and you should get into using them as soon as you can. Always ultra pads are good because they have wings which make sure that the pad is even firmer in place. A good tampon brand is tampax because you can choose either applicator or non applicator tampons. Non applicators are harder to insert though and applicators have a cardboard outer tube which makes them really easy to use. [ rainbowcherrie's advice column | Ask rainbowcherrie A Question ]

Shlammy answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 9:14 pm: Start with pads. Don't go right into tampons, unless you're going into water or swimming. Pads will get you ready and after about 4 months or so, if you think you're ready, then go for it. [ Shlammy's advice column | Ask Shlammy A Question ]
Bec3394 answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 9:09 pm: I'd start with pads because they're the easiest to use. Then phase yourself into using tampons. I really like the compact ones because they're easy to sneek to the bathroom! :) good luck hon! [ Bec3394's advice column | Ask Bec3394 A Question ]
sunshine1030 answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 9:06 pm: i personally prefer tampons, but sometimes its hard to put them in at first. if you are able to, since you are new, get ones that say "slim" or ones that are for teens. they are the smallest ones, and the easiest ones to put in. if you have no problem with those, i love Pearl tampons. they are very comfortable, and work really well. if tampons aren't your choice, any kind of pads work. i used to use Always with wings, and i still use those when i dont' feel like using a tampon. they are fairly comfortable, and not too bulky. it also depends on how heavy your period is, because if it's very heavy you will need to get more absorbant tampons/pads, but if its light, you can get the least absorbant ones. i hope this helped! misunderstood64 answered Tuesday November 16 2004, 8:43 pm: oh yay, lol. well as far as pads it all depends on your flow. If you are extremely heavy I'd suggest you get maxi with wings (doesnt really matter what brand) I prefer wings just so I dont *spill* out the sides. if you have a medium flow then you can just buy normal pads. For tampons I personally love tampax pearl, they glide easily and are easy to insert. I prefer tampons (you dont even feel like you're on your period) but since you're just starting your period I'd suggest starting out with pads. Talk to your mom or sister about inserting a tampon or read the directions on the paper inside the box. When you're wearing a tampon wear a small pad under it just incase of leaks. You might also want to buy midol for cramps :) have fun! [ misunderstood64's advice column | Ask misunderstood64 A Question ]
