Trevor-Wolf answered Monday October 11 2004, 9:10 am: No, the national sales tax ranges, from 2.5-3%. But this is included with your state taxes in sales. This varies from state to state. But there a few exceptions such as Delaware, Montana, Oregon, New Hampshire, and Alaska. One of the lowest state sales tax rates is 2.9% in Colorado, and 8.25 or 8.75 in New York State, and unfortunately...I live in New York State. :) Hope I helped.
MFS answered Monday September 27 2004, 9:27 pm: Indeed, there is not National Sales Tax. Sales Tax is levied by State, and within each state, an additional amount can be levied by counties. It is highly variable. I've been to places with it as low as 4.25% and as high as almost 9%. [ MFS's advice column | Ask MFS A Question ]
