Tell your doctor before you go, so he knows what to expect..I know you cant move the whole time..So ((idk if you can, but if you can)) close your eyes. Think of your friends and songs you like..it will go by fast!
Ask_Anything answered Friday August 27 2004, 5:41 pm: yeah getting an MRI and being clostrophobic isnt a good match. some tips on getting through the procedure would be to relax [as enough people would say], try to think about something that your mind could focus on during the hour or sing your favorite song in your head [never have tried that one yet], think about what you want to do during the next few weeks- maybe a project you get assigned for school [if it has started yet]. close your eyes, having them open might make you freak out. you can also tell whoever is doing the MRI on you, that you have that phobia- they could possibly further explain helpful tips [as i can assume they've had others like you before]. good luck with your MRI! and if it helps dont worry- the machinery wont topple down on you i promise ;)! =] -ask_ anyting [ Ask_Anything's advice column | Ask Ask_Anything A Question ]
xOchErrytWistOx answered Friday August 27 2004, 5:33 pm: Well, first there are such things as open MRI's for people like you. Also, if you freak out, they will like sedate you or w/e so you dont move. Nothing to worry about, just relax and stay calm.

xblakNpinkx3 answered Friday August 27 2004, 3:21 pm: You should really think of this as a way to try and not be closterphobic. Just imagine that the space you go into is really spacious. If you want close ur eyes before you go in and open them after you go out so you dont realy know how small it is. If you start heavy breathing or find it hard to breath just tell the docter and im sure they will get you out as soon as they can.

storageanddisposal answered Friday August 27 2004, 3:16 pm: Based on what I read, I really doubt you're "Closterphobic". Besides, an irrational fear of "closters" wouldn't be triggered while someone's performing an MRI on you. I've had one done before, I didn't see any closters. princs answered Friday August 27 2004, 2:45 pm: Close your eyes and pretend your in a BIG open room. Or you could not sleep the night before and fall asleep in there. Just take lots of deep breaths and think happy thoughts!
Hope i helped :)
