Question Posted Sunday August 22 2004, 11:21 pm

Hey there. Okay, I've been on birth control (Tri-Cyclen) for a week now ... and about 4 days into it I started getting cramps, and having diarrea. It continued like that for 2 days. I also have to pee like, every 15 minutes. lol. Is this normal, or should I talk to my doctor about it.

Your body's probably just getting used to it. If it doesn't get better in the near future, I'd talk to your doctor.

You might wanna check with your doc about that.Sometimes with the pill it's a trial-and-error sorta thing.I started on Tri-Cyclen and it didn't "agree" with me either,so I was switched. It differs for all girls, and I know a LARGE number of women who've had to be on 2 or 3 different ones until they find one that's right for them!!So I say check with your doctor!!See what he/she says!Let me know how you're doing!! :)

it could just be some side effects from it that last a week or so until your body gets used to it. i was really sick to my stomach the first few days i was on it, but after the first week or so everything was fine. you should still ask your doctor about it, just to let them know, in case it isn't normal.

Siren_Cytherea answered Sunday August 22 2004, 11:57 pm:
Well, your body can take up to 3 months to get used to the pill. That's what the gyno I went to told me when I asked him how long the side effects could last. It took my body a month to get used to Yasmin 28. I had breakthrough bleeding. It SUCKED.
I would talk to your doctor, though, and ask him if it's normal to feel like you have to pee "like, every 15 minutes." Just to check. This pill might not be the right one - there are different doses. If these side effects don't clear up in 3 months or less, talk to your doctor about taking a different pill.
I hope this helped, and I hope you feel better!

As with any medicine, it takes your body some time to adjust to the medication. If the problems don't stop soon or if they get significantly worse, you should go see your doctor.

it could be normal because the pill can cause some crazy side effects while your body gets used to it. I never had problems with it but my friend had really bad stomach problems from the same brand. So it varies from person to person. if it doesn't get better soon, talk to your doctor. when she hears your symptoms she'll probably have a better idea of what kind of pill to put you on that will sit better with you.

yeah this can be normal. sometimes it can take up to 3 months for your body to get used to the birth control. if the problems keeping persisting for a while and it becomes uncomfortable then i suggest you see a doctor, and maybe get the birth control changed to something more mild.
